2019 (Sophomore)
Thompson once again, added depth to the roster for the Huskers in her sophomore season but did not see action in a meet.

She continued her strong start outside the gym by being named Academic All-Big Ten as well as the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor Roll and was once again named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Rachel retired from gymnastics at the conclusion of the season after a continuous battle with injuries.

2018 (Freshman)
Rachel Thompson added valuable depth to the roster in 2018, but did not see action in a meet.

She got off to an excellent start outside the gym, as she was named to the fall Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and joined the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Before Nebraska 
Thompson competed at Nebraska School of Gymnastics in Lincoln during her club career for coaches Vanessa Meloche, a former Husker All-American, and Owen Field. Thompson qualified for the 2016 J.O. National Championships, where she posted a 19th-place finish on beam. Thompson notched a top-10 finish at the 2015 Region 4 Championships, where she finished ninth on floor. One of the top gymnasts in the state, Thompson finished third at the 2016 Nebraska State Championships on vault, bars and in the all-around, while finishing tied for fourth on beam and fifth on floor. She also finished third on bars, floor and in the all-around at the 2015 Nebraska State Championships.

Personal
The daughter of Kris and Michelle Thompson, Rachel was born on Sept. 14, 1999. She has two brothers, Cole and Luke. A 2017 graduate of Lincoln Southwest High School, Thompson plans to major in pre-health at Nebraska. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2019 and is a two-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She was also a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2018 and 2019.
