2016 (Senior)
Known for her consistency and work ethic throughout her career, Hollie Blanske helped lead the Huskers to three NCAA Championships appearances during her time at Nebraska. Blanske (pronounced BLAN-ski) finished her career by earning three more All-America honors to give her a total of six for her career. She was named first-team All-American on vault and earned second-team accolades on floor exercise and in the all-around following her performance at the NCAA Championships in 2016. She competed in every meet in her senior season, hitting 53 of 55 routines. Blanske also achieved NACGC/W regular season second-team All-America honors in the all-around. She was named first-team All-Big Ten and won the Big Ten vault title.
Blanske excelled as an all-arounder for the Huskers throughout her time at Nebraska scoring a career-high 39.600 two times in her career, including her senior day against Utah State. Blanske also accomplished a career high on vault, scoring a near-perfect 9.975 at the Big Ten Championships. On uneven bars, Blanske was able to hit her career high of 9.90 four times, including at the NCAA Iowa City Regional. She was known for her powerhouse floor routine, notching a 9.95 four times throughout her career and three times in 2016.
Blanske was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 25, following her all-around victory against Rutgers. Blanske hit a 9.95 on floor exercise to round out a score of 39.500 in the all-around.
At the NCAA Championships, Blanske competed with power and grace. She captured third place on vault with a score of 9.925 and finished 12th on floor exercise and in the all-around, helping Nebraska to an eighth-place finish.
She continued to provide leadership in the classroom and the community, earning the HERO Leadership Award for outstanding service. Blanske earned NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors for a third time in 2016. She also earned academic All-Big Ten honors for the third year in a row, while being named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2016. She was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.
2015 (Junior)
Following a stellar sophomore season, Blanske continued to shine in her junior campaign by earning first-team All-America honors on floor at the 2015 NCAA Championships. She also picked up second-team accolades in the all-around after a steady performance at the NCAA semifinals. One of NU’s most consistent performers, Blanske made up part of a trio of all-arounders alongside Grace Williams and Jessie DeZiel, contributing quality scores across the board.
For the second year in a row, Blanske competed in every meet of the season as an all-around competitor, hitting 51 of 52 routines throughout the year. She notched a season-high 39.500 against Penn State, capturing Big Ten Gymnast-of-the-Week honors in the process. She also tied her career high of 9.95 on vault against Rutgers, while matching her personal best on bars with a 9.90 at the annual Masters Classic.
At the NCAA Championships, Blanske showed her prowess as a steady all-around performer when she earned second-team All-America awards for her 39.325 showing, tying for 13th overall. Her season high-tying 9.925 on floor during the semifinal day punched her ticket to the individual event finals, where she took 11th with a 9.85 score.
2014 (Sophomore)
Blanske became an All-American in 2014, earning first-team accolades on beam at the NCAA Championships. All season long, she helped provide a solid 1-2-3 punch in the all-around with junior Jessie DeZiel and senior Emily Wong. Blanske proved to be one of the Huskers’ most valuable gymnasts and continually provided clutch performances in every event.
Blanske did not miss a meet all season in the all-around, delivering her best performance at the Big Ten Championships, soaring to a 39.600. Her performance included career-high scores on floor (9.95) and beam (9.90) en route to finishing as the Big Ten all-around runner-up. She was named to the Big Ten all-championship team on beam, floor and in the all-around.
She notched a career-high score of 9.90 on bars at the Masters Classic, as she tallied her third individual event title on the season. Blanske hit three scores of 9.90 or better on floor during her sophomore campaign and moved into the back of the lineup with her strong routine.
At the NCAA Championships, Blanske proved her strength as a powerful beam worker when she recorded a career-high-matching 9.90 on beam at the NCAA Semifinals and at the Super Six Finals. She took 10th place overall on beam with a 9.85 mark at the event finals.
2013 (Freshman)
Blanske battled back from an offseason knee injury to become a solid three-event competitor for the Huskers in her first season. Appearing on vault, bars and floor for NU, Blanske logged season-high scores of 9.85 or better on each apparatus while securing her spot as one of the squad’s top vaulters by the end of 2013.
Blanske came on strong late in the season for Nebraska, posting or tying season bests on all three events during the month of March. She was a crucial part of Nebraska’s Big Ten Championship-winning efforts on March 23, finishing in a tie for sixth on floor (9.90) and earning Big Ten co-champion honors on vault (9.95). Blanske also earned her first career Big Ten all-championship team award for her vault performance.
She finished the 2013 season with a trio of individual titles, including two on vault and one on floor. Blanske notched a fourth-place finish on vault at the NCAA Morgantown Regional, posting a 9.925 to come in behind co-champion teammates Jessie DeZiel, Emily Wong and Brittany Skinner (9.95).
Before Nebraska
Blanske arrived at Nebraska after competing under coaches Mike Hunger, Sami Wozney, Sarah Jantzi and Rich Stenger at Twin City Twisters alongside fellow Husker All-American Jessie DeZiel. Blanske was a four-time Junior Olympic National qualifier and was a Junior Olympic National Team Member in 2010 and 2011. She was a 2011 Junior Olympic National all-around champion, posting a score of 38.450. She was also a national champion on bars (9.625) and floor (9.775) in 2011. Blanske captured three regional titles and was the 2011 Region IV Co-Regional Gymnast of the Year.
Blanske chose Nebraska over Arkansas, Minnesota, Iowa State, Washington and Denver.
Personal
Blanske is the daughter of Jim and Michelle Blanske and was born April 1, 1994. She has two brothers, Brent and Bo and one sister, Jamie. A native of Oak Grove, Minn., Blanske was a three year honor roll selection at St. Francis High School and graduated with honors. She double majored in marketing and management before earning her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2016. She was a three-time NACGC/W Scholastic All-American. Blanske was a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection and a seven-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She was also a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and earned a Nebraska HERO Leadership Award in 2016.
