2011 • Senior Season
Maddie Steinauer earned second-team All-America honors on beam at the 2011 NCAA Championships to cap a solid Husker career. Her effort at nationals helped the Huskers advance to the NCAA Super Six Team Finals, where they finished fourth.

A three-event specialist on vault, beam and floor, Steinauer posted career highs of 9.90 on beam and 9.875 on floor as a senior. She also tallied a season-high 9.875 on vault three times over the course of the season.

Steinauer earned three beam titles on the year and was the lead-off performer on the event for Nebraska all season. She tallied a 9.85 for fourth place on floor at the 2011 Big 12 Championships, earning a spot on the All-Big 12 Championship Team.

She earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors and claimed a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll.

2010 • Junior Season
Steinauer started her Husker career as a solid contributor for NU on vault, beam and floor in 2010. She hit career-high scores on all events, highlighted by a 9.90 performance on vault at the 2010 big 12 Championships, giving her a share of the vault crown. She notched another individual title at the Masters Classic on vault.  

Steinauer performed well in her Husker debut, competing on vault (9.75), beam (9.775) and floor (9.675) for Nebraska. She hit a new career-high 9.775 on floor against Minnesota and Illinois on Jan. 15, and posted a 9.825 on vault. She tied her season high with a 9.775 on beam and improved her then-career high to 9.825 on floor against Michigan on Jan. 24. Steinauer tied for third on beam (9.725) and floor (9.775) against Missouri. She posted a then-career-high 9.80 on beam against Oklahoma and TWU on Feb. 5. She matched that score with a 9.80 on beam at the IGI Chicago Style Invite on Feb. 12. Steinauer notched the first event title of her junior season at the Masters Classic, hitting a then-career-best 9.85 on vault to tie for first. She also tied her season-high floor score (9.825). She matched that vault score with a 9.85 against Iowa State on March 14, before improving her vault mark to 9.875 at Penn State.

Steinauer added a Big 12 title to her list of accomplishments, tying for first on vault with a career-high 9.90. She was named to the All-Big 12 Championship Team on the event. She posted a score of 9.875 on vault at the NCAA Lexington Regional on April 10.

In the classroom, Steinauer was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll both semesters.

Before Nebraska
Steinauer was a member of the Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team from 2007 to 2009. She was named to the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Academic Honor Roll and the Western Athletic Conference's All-Academic Team. As a freshman, Steinauer competed on vault at the NCAA Regionals in Corvallis, Ore., finishing in a tie for 14th (9.775). She was a second-team All-WAC selection as a result of her fourth-place finish at the 2008 WAC Championships. She competed on vault in 11 of the team's 12 regular-season meets in 2008, averaging a team-best 9.802, while also setting a school record for a single season. She set or matched her career high of 9.85 three times. Steinauer also competed on beam and floor for the Titans.  

Steinauer competed for Coach Don Houlton at Nebraska Gold Gymnastics Academy. She was a 2004 Western Nationals Qualifier and a 2005 J.O. Nationals alternate. Steinauer was also a six-time regional qualifier and the 2007 state vault champion in Nebraska.

A 2007 graduate of Marian High School, she earned first honors all four years of high school and was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society.

Personal
Maddie Steinauer was born on May 8, 1989 in Omaha, Neb. She is the daughter of Nick and Amy Steinauer and has two sisters, Elizabeth and Carly, and two brothers, Nick and Will. A biology major at Nebraska, Maddie earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the Huskers in 2011 and was a three-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.
