2011 • Junior Season
Kaitlin Reid joined the Huskers after spending two seasons at Cal State Fullerton, where she was a bars and beam specialist for the Titans. She earned a 9.60 on bars at the Metroplex Challenge in her Husker debut.
A solid performer in the classroom, Reid earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters in 2010-11.
Before Nebraska
Reid was a member of the Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team in 2009 and 2010. She was a bars and beam specialist for the Titans as a freshman and competed in 10 meets, averaging a 9.425 on bars and a 9.456 on beam. Reid set a career-high 9.70 on bars and posted a career-best 9.80 on beam twice in 2009. She was named to the 2009 NACGC Academic Honor Roll and the Western Athletic Conference's all-academic team. As a sophomore Reid set career highs on vault (9.75), beam (9.825) and bars. In addition, she earned second-team All-WAC honors on beam and finished sixth on beam at the 2010 Conference championships. She was also one of four team captains in 2010.
Reid competed for coaches Joe Camacho, John Charzuk, Christie Snell and Kyle Georges at Albuquerque School of Gymnastics. Reid was a Level 10 Junior Olympic National Qualifier in 2007 and 2008. In addition, she was the 2008 New Mexico State all-around and bars champion and finished sixth at the Region lll championships in 2008.
A 2008 graduate of La Ceuva High School, she was a four-year academic letterwinner and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. She was a member of the Spanish National Honor Society.
Personal
Kaitlin Reid was born on Nov. 12, 1989 and is the daughter of Bill and Linda Reid. She has one brother, Patrick. A nutrition, exercise and health sciences major, Kaitlin earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2012. She was a two-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
