2009 • Freshman Season

Freshman Claire Stingley was used in a reserve role for NU in 2009. She competed in exhibition on beam and floor and made steady improvements spanning the 2009 season.

 

Before Nebraska

Stingley competed for coach Ron Nasti at GymNasti Gymnastics in Villa Park, Ill. Although she was unable to compete during the 2006-2007 season due to injury, Stingley earned the 2006 Gateway Challenge Level 10 Championship. Stingley also earned the Level 9 Junior Olympic National Floor Crown in 2005.

 

Stingley chose Nebraska over offers from Southern Utah and Iowa

 

Personal

Claire Stingley was born July 29, 1990 in Chicago, Ill., and is the daugher of Mark and Mary-Christine Stingley. A 2008 graduate of WIllowbrook High School, she carried a 4.8 grade-point-average and scored a 35 on her ACT. She was a member of the Natinoal Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta Mathetmatics Honor Society, Civitas Social Studies Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, the Distinction Honor Roll and the Science National Honor Society. A member of the National Society of High School Scholars, she was also a National Merit Commended Scholar and played the flute in her school's chamber winds ensemble. Stingley is an International Studies and Pre-Med major at Nebraska and has one sister, Marina.
