Jane Clemons was a letterwinner for the Huskers from 1987-90. The 1990 Big Eight All-Around Champion, Clemons earned third-team All-America honors in her senior season. She became the second Academic All-American in Nebraska women’s gymnastics history.

As a senior: Jane Clemons stepped into her final season with the Huskers poised to be one of the top returnees on bars for Nebraska. A strong competitor in the gym, Clemons was also a leader in the classroom. She earned third-team All-America honors in 1990 with a 3.663 GPA.

Clemons hit season highs of 9.50 on vault, 9.85 on bars, 9.70 on beam, 9.60 on floor and 38.50 in the all-around. She scored a 38.50 at the Big Eight Championships to earn the all-around title. She also tied for first on bars (9.85) with teammate Lisa McCrady. Additionally, she was runner-up on beam, scoring a 9.55. At the 1990 NCAA Midwest Regional, Clemons took seventh on bars (9.70) and 19th on beam. She came in 25th in the all-around (37.975) at the 1990 NCAA Championships.

As a junior: In her best season to date, Clemons competed in every meet for the Huskers. She scored above a 9.60 on bars in eight of 12 meets for Nebraska. At the Big Eight Championships, Clemons won the bars title with a career-best 9.85 and was named All-Big Eight on bars and beam, after posting a career-best 9.75.

In the NCAA Midwest Regional she scored a 9.60 on both beam and floor. She competed well at the NCAA Championships, scoring a 9.50 on bars and a 9.45 on beam.

An excellent student, Clemons was honored as a first team selection for the Lee Jeans/Academic All-Big Eight Team.

As a sophomore: Clemons did not compete for the Huskers until February in 1988, and then in a limited way. She performed on uneven bars and beam. Her top finishes of the year came during the Big Eight Championships, when she tied for sixth on beam (9.30) and 17th on bars (9.05). She also competed in the NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships in both events.

As a freshman: After suffering an ankle injury in 1987, Clemons did not compete for the Huskers until the middle of January. Her top performance of the season came on the balance beam, where she scored a 9.50 against Oklahoma. She performed well at the Big Eight Championships, scoring a 9.60 on bars and 9.4 on beam. At the NCAA Championships, she tied for 48th on bars and 49th on beam.

Prior: At the 1986 Region IV Championships, Clemons placed 10th in the all-around which qualified her to the Western Nationals, where she was fifth in the all-around and third on both bars and beam. At the Nebraska State Class l meet, she was second in the all-around. In 1985 she placed third in the all-around and was the uneven bars champion at the Western National Meet. She also competed in the Junior Olympic Nationals in Florida.  Additionally, she placed third on bars at the 1984 Junior Olympics.

Personal: Jane is the daughter of John and Arla Clemons, she has three sisters and was born June 6, 1968.
