Tami Bair was a letterwinner for the Huskers from 1987-90. She was the first Husker to become a two-time All-American, earning the honors on vault and beam in 1989.  

As a senior: At the 1990 Big Eight Championships, Bair tied for third on bars (9.80) and sixth on vault (9.50), helping NU to the Big Eight Team Championship. She came in fifth on floor (9.70) and in the all-around (38.35). In addition, Bair took 18th in the all-around at the NCAA Championships. She hit career highs on vault, bars, beam and floor in her senior season.

As a junior: At the 1989 NCAA Championships, Bair finished the season as an All-American on both vault (9.55-tied for fifth) and beam (9.70-tied for fourth). Bair was the first Husker to become a two-time All-American. At the NCAA Midwest Regional, she was one of four Huskers to tie for first on vault (9.70) and also tied for 10th in the all-around. At the Big Eight Championships, she placed sixth in the all-around and vault (9.65) and tied for third on floor (9.75). Bair was also named to the First-Team Academic All-Big Eight.  

As a sophomore: Bair ended the season as a solid all-around performer for the Huskers. She competed in the all-around in the final six meets of the season, including the Big Eight Championships, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships. Bair performed well in the conference, she finished fifth in the all-around with a 36.65 and tied for fourth on vault with a 9.55. Her first title of the season was on beam against New Mexico, when she set the then-school record on the event with a 9.60. At the NCAA Championships she tied for 31st in the all-around with teammate Lisa McCrady at 36.30.

As a freshman: Slowed by minor injuries, Bair saw limited time as an all-arounder in 1987. Her top all-around performance was a second-place effort against Penn State and Ohio State in the second meet of the season. She competed in the vault and floor exercise at the NCAA Championships. Bair was also named to the Big Eight Academic Honor Roll. 

Prior: Arthroscopic knee surgery kept Bair out of competition before entering college. She was a finalist in the 1985 Midwest Open Invitational. In 1985 she qualified for the Region V Championships. In 1984 she qualified for both the Region V Championships and the Eastern National Championships.

Personal: Tami is the daughter of Ron and Linda Hunter and was born on Aug. 28, 1968. She has one brother and was an advertising major.
