Crystal Savage was a letterwinner for the Huskers from 1986-89. She earned All-America honors in 1989, after tying for second on bars (9.80) at the NCAA Championships.

As a senior: Savage became the fifth Husker to earn All-America honors in 1989, after tying for second on bars (9.80) at the NCAA Championships. Savage helped Nebraska to a top finish at the 1989 Big Eight Championships, taking fifth on vault (9.70). She tied for first on vault (9.70) at the NCAA Midwest Regional, aiding NU in a second-place finish. Savage posted career high scores on vault (9.70) and bars (9.95) in 1989 and is tied for fourth in the all-time Nebraska bars records.

As a junior: At the 1988 Big Eight Championships she placed in every event, including third in the all-around with a 37.80 and second on bars (9.75). She also tied for fourth on beam, (9.40). Savage competed in every event at the NCAA Regionals, but did not place. At the NCAA Championships she competed in only three events- vault, bars and beam.

As a sophomore: Savage was ranked 18th at the end of the season by the National Associate of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) with a regional qualifying score of 37.54. A strong all-around performer, she finished fifth in the all-around (37.05), on vault (9.40) and on beam (9.30) at the Big Eight Championships. Savage was also an Academic All-Big Eight selection.

As a freshman: Savage proved to be a strong performer for the Huskers in 1986. She qualified for the finals on beam at the Big Eight Championships (8.85) and also took seventh on vault (9.30). At the NCAA Regionals, she finished 19th in the all-around with a 36.40 and tied for ninth on vault (9.45). With a national qualifying score of 36.59, she was ranked 51st by NACGC.

Prior: Savage was a member of the Sioux Falls Gymnastics Club, and was coached by Les Fischer. Savage participated in the Junior Olympic Nationals in 1985. She was a vaulting finalist and in the top 20 in the all-around at that meet. Also in 1985, Savage participated in the Class l Regionals, placing fourth in the all-around. This qualified her for the 1985 Class l Nationals. At the 1984 Western Nationals, Savage placed seventh in the all-around and won the vaulting title. In 1983 at the Class l Nationals, Savage placed fourth in the all-around.    

Personal: Savage is the daughter of Donn and Jackie Savage. She has one brother and was a biology major. She was born on April 8, 1967.
