Amie Dillman was a two-year Husker letter winner from 1996-1997. Despite battling injuries throughout her college career, Amie contributed primarily on the vault and the floor during her freshman and sophomore seasons. Dillman also helped the Huskers in the classroom by becoming an honorable-mention Phillips 66 Academic All-Big Eight (1996) and Academic All-Big 12 (1997).
As a senior: After five knee surgeries and over 19 months of rehabilitation, Amie did not compete during her senior season.
As a junior: Dillman took a medical redshirt, missing the entire 1998 season recovering from her knee injuries from the 1997 season. She had another surgery in mid-March of 1998 to remove a neuroma in her left knee.
As a sophomore: Dillman's emphasis came on the vault and floor-exercise, but a season-ending injury in warmups forced her to miss the NCAA regional and the NCAA Championships. Prior to the injury, Amie recorded a career-high 9.875 on the vault at the Big 12 Championships to finish fifth in the event. She scored a 9.70 or better on the vault four times throughout the season and averaged a 9.697 on her eleven total vaults. Dillman scored a career-best 9.925 on floor exercise against Penn State, averaging a 9.553 in nine floor exercise routines. She scored a 9.90 on the floor and a 9.825 on vault against Iowa state in Lincoln. Towards the end of her sophomore career, Amie dislocated both knees during pre-meet warmups on vault at the Midwest Regional and missed the remainder of the season. Dillman was named honorable-mention academic All-Big 12 with a 3.428 GPA in general studies.
As a freshman: A solid performer on the vault and floor exercise, Dillman was a force for the Huskers in her first season at Nebraska. She set a season-high on vault with a score of 9.85 against Penn State and a season-high score of 9.825 against Southern Utah. Amie finished fifth on the vault (9.80) and on the floor exercise (9.775) at the 1996 Big Eight Championships. She tied for 25th on the vault at the Midwest Regionals with a score of 9.725 and recorded a 9.775 on the floor to tie for 21st place. Dillman contributed for the Huskers on the vault (9.55) and floor exercise (9.075) at the NCAA Championships. She also closed out her freshman season by being named honorable-mention Phillips 66 Academic All-Big Eight.
Prior: Before coming to Nebraska, Dillman competed at the Cypress Academy of Gymnastics in Texas where she was coached by Deana Parish. She was a club teammate of former Husker Kathy Ligon.
Personal: The daughter of Kyoko and Lynn Dillman, Amie was born on April 11, 1977 and has one brother named Michael. She majored in psychology at NU and chose Nebraska over LSU because of the academic support system, the coaching staff and personnel.
