Alise Cecchini redshirted in her first season as a Husker. Following <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, Cecchini transferred to the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Before Nebraska
Cecchini competed as a Level 10 gymnast at the AlbuquerqueGymnasticsSchool under Coach Joe Comancho. At the 2005 Kurt Thomas Invitational in Dallas, she finished seventh on bars (9.20) and beam (9.00) and also placed 11th in the all-around (32.70) at the 2004 Flips USA competition in Reno, Neb. She added a sixth-place showing in the all-around (35.60) at the New Mexico State Championships, while also placing fifth on bars (8.95) and sixth on vault (9.05).
Personal
The daughter of Michael Cecchini and Roxanne Dunlap, Alise was born April 14, 1987 in Albuquerque, N.M. A 2005 graduate of La Cueva High School, she was involved in DECA and was a member of the honor roll. Cecchini, who majored in marketing at Nebraska, has one brother, Christopher.
