Before Nebraska
A two-time J.O. Nationals qualifier who posted her top individual finish by taking 17th on vault in 2019, Simpton was one of the top all-arounders in Texas the last four years. At the 2019 Region 3 Championships, Simpton won the floor exercise title (9.475), while adding runner-up finishes on vault (9.850) and beam (9.450) to take second in the all-around (37.925). She added a fifth-place finish on bars. It marked the second straight year that she finished in the top six on every event at the Region 3 Championships, including a trio of third-place finishes on vault, floor and in the all-around in 2018. She was a three-time Level 10 Texas State Champion, claiming individual event titles on vault (2019), bars (2018) and floor (2017). During the early portion of the 2020 season, Simpton won vault, floor and bars titles on her way to the all-around crown at the Alamo Classic. She added bars and floor titles to claim a runner-up finish in the all-around at the 2020 Biles Invitational.

Simpton trained with Metroplex Gymnastics in Dallas under coaches Marnie Futch, Gina Quinlan, Kambri Hoffman and Nikki McElroy.

Simpton was an honor roll student throughout high school at Texas Connections Academy.
