Ellie Grooters competed in the 600 meters at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in a third place finish with a personal best time of 1:27.89 on the oversized track… also claimed second place with her 4x400 meter relay team at the Big Ten Indoor Championships... participated in six meets during the 2014 indoor season for Nebraska… clocked a personal-best time of 54.71 in a runner-up showing in the 400 meters at the Nebraska Tune-Up… earned another runner-up showing in the 600 meters at the Frank Sevigne Invitational with a personal-best mark of 1:29.85… battled in the 600 yard event at Iowa State to finish third at 1:20.52.

Grooters recorded a time of 1:30.48 in the 600 meters at the Big Ten Championships, finishing sixth...helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish and a time of 3:42.57 at the conference meet... earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2013 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with a time of 59.71, after setting a personal and NU women’s season-best mark of 59.54 in the prelims... posted a personal-best time of 56.68 in the 400 meters at the Nebraska Tune-Up... picked up a pair of 400-meter hurdle top finishes in the Pre-Drake and Nebraska Invite, while finishing runner-up at the Nebraska Quad...helped guide the 4x400 meter relay squad to a season-best 3:37.45 and a third place finish at the Drake Relays...ran the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Prelims in Austin.... named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar... earned academic All-Big Ten honors... named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Rolls in both semesters.

Grooters became an All-American in 2012 after helping the women’s distance medley relay team to a seventh-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships... recorded an indoor personal-best time of 1:28.84 in the 600 meters at the 2012 Big Ten Indoor Championships, finishing third in the event... recorded an indoor personal-best of 2:13.62 in the 800 meters at the adidas Classic... notched a personal-best time of 9.16 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Holiday Inn Invitational... set the indoor school record in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:09.83 at the NCAA Championships... posted an outdoor personal best of 2:13.16 in the 800 meters at the Kansas Relays... notched a personal-best time of 59.45 in the 400-meter hurdles in the preliminary round of the 2012 Big Ten Outdoor Championships... finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor conference championships... helped the women’s 4x400-meter relay team to a time of 3:44.70 at the Big Ten Championships... posted a time of 1:03.33 in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary Round... earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award... honored as an academic All-Big Ten selection... earned a spot on the fall 2011 and spring 2012 Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.

Grooters earned four All-Big 12 honors as a freshman... finished third in the 600-yard run at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a personal-best time of 1:20.90... took fifth in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:39.21 for fifth place at the indoor conference championships... recorded a personal-best 57.23 in the 400 meters at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Feb. 18... posted a season-best 2:18.03 in the 800 meters... finished eighth in the 400 hurdles at the 2011 Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a season-best time of 59.48 to earn All-Big 12 honors... took sixth in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:37.73 to garner her fourth All-Big 12 accolades of the year.
Before Nebraska (West Fargo HS)
An accomplished hurdler at West Fargo High School in Fargo, N.D., Grooters was a four-time Class A state champion in both the 100 and 300 hurdles... a 16-time state medalist for the Packers, Grooters broke onto the scene as a freshman in 2007, when she won the 100 hurdles (15.84) and 300 hurdles (45.55)... returned as a sophomore to defend both of her hurdle titles... won four more medals in 2009, including three golds... cleared a personal best of 14.73 to win the 100 hurdles and added a then-state meet record time of 43.03 in the 300 hurdles... capped senior season with two more state titles in the 100 and 300 hurdles, breaking her own state meet record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.51... on the national scene in 2009 she produced a ninth-place showing in the 400 hurdles at the USA Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore... improved at the 2010 meet at Drake Stadium, finishing fifth with a time of 1:00.94 after running a personal best of 59.82 in the preliminaries.

The daughter of Greg and Robin Grooters... born Sept. 21, 1991... is a speech-language pathology major at Nebraska.
