Megan (pronounced MEE-gun) Wheatley continued to be one of the Huskers' top performers in 2010, as she produced two runner-up finishes at the conference championships and she qualified for both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships for the third straight year... competed in various events throughout the indoor season to prepare for the postseason... finished second in the pentathlon with 4,015 points at the Big 12 Indoor Championships to teammate Chantae McMillan... tossed a personal best of 44-2 in the shot put during the pentathlon... tried to repeat as an indoor All-American at the national meet, but sufferened an injury during the competition and was forced to withdraw... became the fourth Husker since 2000 to win the heptathlon at the KU Relays, scoring 5,323 points... earned her seveth career All-Big 12 honor at the outdoor conference meet with a second-place showing in the heptathlon... placed in the top-10 in the pentathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the third straight year with a 10th-place score of 5,420 points.
2009 (Junior/Sophomore)
Wheatley earned her first All-America honor and added two more Big 12 Conference titles in 2009... competed in her first pentathlon of the indoor season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, winning the meet with a score of 4,061 points after finishing second in 2008... placed third or higher in all five events at the Husker Invitational, including the top mark in the shot put at 43-1 1/2... won the pentathlon at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a score of 4,211 points, bettering her previous best of 4,122 points... finished third or better in all five events, including a top time of 8.66 in the 60-meter hurdles... also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished eighth at the conference meet... earned the first All-America honor of her career at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a fourth-place finish, scoring a personal-best 4,267 points, the No. 2 performance all-time indoors at NU... set personal bests in the 60 hurdles (8.62) and long jump (20-3), as well as a then-personal best in the shot put (43-7 1/4) at the national meet... competed in the heptathlon at the Jim Click Shootout, finishing third with an NCAA provisional-qualifying score of 5,360 points... competed sparingly throughout the rest of the outdoor season in various events to get ready for the postseason... successfully defended her heptathlon title at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, breaking her previous best of 5,643 points with an NCAA automatic-qualifying score of 5,800 points... score was the No. 2 performance all-time at NU outdoors and marked the fifth straight win at the conference meet in the heptathlon for the Huskers... finished tied for first or second in all seven events at the conference meet, including wins in the 100 hurdles (13.76), high jump (5-6 1/2), long jump (19-10 1/4) and shot put (44-3 1/4), as well as setting personal bests in the 200 meters (24.47), 100 hurdles, and shot put... finished ninth in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second straight year, even though she bettered her 2008 score of 5,596 points with 5,636 points in 2009... competed in the heptathlon for her home country of Australia during the summer at the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia... finished seventh, after starting day two in ninth place... set personal bests in the 800 meters (2:17.36) and javelin (131-4) on her way to scoring 5,696 points, her second-best career score.
2008 (Sophomore/Redshirt Freshman)
Wheatley continued the dominance of the Nebraska multi-event group at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with the squad’s fourth straight title in the heptathlon while also making her first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2008... slowed during the indoor season by a stress fracture... competed in only four meets... posted the sixth-best pentathlon score in Division I in 2008 with 4,122 points at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational... finished runner-up at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in the pentathlon with 3,993 points... was unable to make the trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships because of her stress fracture and missed the first four meets of the outdoor season... made outdoor debut at the Nebraska Open by finishing 10th in the shot put and seventh in the javelin... competed in her first heptathlon in nearly two years at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Boulder, Colo., where she won her first Big 12 title, winning four of the seven heptathlon events... posted then-personal bests in the shot put (43-5 1/4), 200 meters (24.75) and long jump (19-5 1/2) as well as a then-personal-best score of 5,643 points, breaking her previous best by 320 points... earned the ninth-best score in Division I in 2008 with her effort in Boulder... missed All-America honors by one spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, with her ninth-place finish (5,596 points)... shattered her personal best in the long jump in Des Moines with a leap of 20-2 1/2, which was the longest mark recorded by a Husker on the women’s side in 2008.
2007 (Freshman)
Wheatley finished fourth at the Big 12 Indoor Championships and earned All-Big 12 honors with an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark with a season-best score of 3,713 points in just her second pentathlon of the season... excelled in the 800-meter run, clocking a meet-best time of 2:20.03 in the event at the conference meet... competed in just one meet during the outdoor season before being sidelined by injury... received a medical hardship.
Before Nebraska (Penrhos College)
Wheatley competed in the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships heptathlon in Beijing, China, in August, earning 16th place with a score of 5,151 points... coached in Australia by Grant Ward... set her then-personal-best score in the heptathlon with 5,323 points, while winning the Western Australia Heptathlon in Perth, Australia, in January of 2006... ranked as Australia’s top under-20 heptathlete for 2006 with the score, as well as 21st on the nation’s all-time list... won the 2006 Australian Under-23 heptathlon title (5,229 points)... placed second in the long jump (19-1 1/2w) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.66) at the 2006 Under-23 Championships... claimed the 2004 Australian Under-20 heptathlon crown (4,962 points).
