David Schutter (pronounced Skutter) produced the top-seven finishes in the javelin at all four of his meets... opened with a seventh-place toss of 176-4 at the Stanford Invitational... added nearly 14 feet to his previous best of 184-11 with a sixth-place throw of 198-4 at the John McDonnell Invitational... ended the year with back-to-back seventh-place showings at the Nebraska Quad (176-5) and Ward Haylett Invitational (166-1).

 

2008 (Sophomore)

In his first season of competitive track and field since high school in 2005, Schutter developed into a solid javelin thrower for the Husker throws squad by placing in the top 10 in all six of his meets... placed sixth in his first collegiate meet at the Jim Click Shootout with a toss of 183-4... set a personal best with a throw of 184-11 at the Nebraska Open to place fourth... finished the season at the Nebraska Invitational with a fourth-place finish (177-11).

 

Before Nebraska (Great Bend HS)

Schutter transferred to Nebraska from the University of Kansas, where he did not participate in athletics... graduated from Great Bend High School in 2005... competed in track and field only during his freshman year as a pole vaulter under Coach Lonnie Carter... concentrated on soccer after his freshman year.

Parents are Mark and Harriett Schutter... born Sept. 29, 1986... major is psychology.
