Jon Ronhovde (pronounced RON-huv-dee) competed once as an unattached athlete in 2009, as he redshirted both the indoor and outdoor seasons... finished 11th out of 27 runners in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:05.80 at the Nebraska Invitational during the outdoor season.
Before Nebraska (Fremont HS)
Ronhovde came to Nebraska from Fremont High School where he was a two-time Class A state champion under Coach Sean McMahon... made his first trip to the state track meet as a sophomore in 2006... finished eighth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:05.56... returned as a junior to place third in the 3,200 meters (9:39.61) and the 1,600 meters (4:23.96) while adding a seventh-place finish in the 800 meters (2:00.19)... capped his senior season by taking the All-Class gold medal in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:24.78, while finishing sixth in the 800 meters (1:56.92), second in the 3,200 meters (9:36.24) and anchoring the second-place 4x800-meter relay team (8:00.97)... made trips to the Nebraska Class A State Cross Country Championships in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, winning the state title as a senior... chose Nebraska over Drake and Iona.
