2008 (Junior)
Robert Rands was only able to compete during the indoor season for the Huskers as surgery to his knee kept him out during the outdoor season... started the season with a first-place jump of 23-8 1/2 (7.22) at the Holiday Inn Invite... followed with a runner-up finish at the Conference Challenge (23-0)... competed in both the long jump and triple jump at the Big 12 Indoor Championships... finished ninth in the long jump (23-7 1/4)... jumped 45-10 1/2 in lone triple jump of the season.
 

2007 (Sophomore)

2006 (Freshman)
Rands scored in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships for the first time in the long jump with his fifth place finish (24-9 1/4w)... although the distance exceeded the qualifying standards, the wind (+4.7) was too strong to advance to the NCAA Midwest Regaional Championships...  earned fifth place (23-11 1/2) while attempting to defend his 2005 long jump title at the U.S. Junior Championships... placed 12th in his first Big 12 indoor conference competition... posted an indoor season-best of 23-11 while finishing runner-up in his first collegiate meet at the Holiday Inn Invitational... also finished second at the adidas Classic (23-4 1/2), Nebraska Triangular (23-10) and Prairie Wolf Invite (23-7 1/4).

 

High School (Bellevue East)
Rands joined the Huskers following one of the most illustrious prep careers in Nebraska history under Coach Deidre McKinley... won the U.S. junior long jump title in Carson, Calif., with a leap of 24-7... followed his junior national title with a win at the Pan American Junior Championships in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Windsor, Ontario, Canada with a mark of 24-11 1/4... broke the oldest Nebraska high school state meet record (24-10 1/2 set in 1961 by NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers) by winning the 2005 all-class gold medal in the long jump with his final jump of 24-11 1/4... also won the all-class gold medal in 2004... combined with wins in 2004 (23-11 1/4) and 2003 (22-5), he became the first Class A male to win three straight titles in the long jump...finished fifth as a freshman (21-5 3/4)... ran on 4x100-meter relays that finished fifth in 2005 and second in 2004... earned second place in the 2005 Nike Outdoor National long jump (24-0 3/4) in Greensboro, N.C.... owned the longest prep indoor and third-longest outdoor marks in 2005... set the all-time Nebraska prep long jump record with a leap of 25-0 1/4 to win the Dan Lennon Invitational in Vermillion, S.D., on his first jump of the 2005 season... claimed runner-up honors at the 2004 USATF Junior Olympic Championships in Eugene, Ore., with a career-best jump of 25-1 3/4... was named the 2005 Nebraska Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
