2006: Daniel Roper swept the triple jump competitions at the Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor Championships during his junior year to join former Husker Robert Thomas as NU’s only three-time conference champions for the event... became the first Husker male ever to sweep the indoor and outdoor conference triple jumps in one season... produced the first outdoor men's triple jump title for the Huskers since the inception of the Big 12 with an outdoor personal-best leap of 52-0 1/2 on his final attempt... returned from off-season ankle surgery to successfully defend his 2005 Big 12 indoor triple jump championship with a mark of 50-9 1/2... grabbed the final automatic qualifying spot for the NCAA outdoor meet with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Midwest Regional (51-3)... just missed qualifying for his first NCAA outdoor final with a 14th-place finish (50-5 1/4) during preliminary rounds... also took over as anchor for NU's 4x100-meter relay outdoors, helping the Huskers earn third place at the Big 12 outdoor meet (39.94)... set outdoor career-best marks in the triple jump three times during the season... recorded his previous outdoor best of 50-9 1/4 to finish fourth at the Kansas Relays... earned top honors at both the Nebraska Invitational (50-5 1/2) and Ward Haylett Invite (50-6 1/4)... anchored NU to a season-best time of 39.70 while winning the 4x100-meter relay at the Nebraska Invite... won his first competition of the indoor season with a leap of 49-0 3/4 at the Nebraska-Colorado State-Kent State Triangular... posted his indoor season best of 51-5 1/2 to earn a provisional NCAA qualification at the Cyclone NCAA Qualifier... finished the indoor season ranked 22nd on the NCAA performance list, just missing a national meet selection... also hit the provisional standard to earn sixth place at the Tyson Invite (51-4 1/2). 2005: Roper claimed his first NCAA All-America honor in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 52-1 1/4 to earn seventh place at the NCAA indoor meet... won his first Big 12 indoor triple jump crown with a then-career-long jump of 51-11 3/4, while placing ninth in the long jump (23-5 1/2)... opened the indoor season by winning the triple jump at the Holiday Inn Invite (49-9) and placing third in the long jump (23-2 1/2)... broke the 50-foot barrier for the first time indoors with a leap of 50-6 3/4 to finish runner-up at the Husker Invite... leaped 50-7 1/4 at the Iowa State Classic... claimed second and third place, respectively, in the triple jump (49-9 1/4) and long jump (23-3 1/4) at the adidas Classic... also earned second place in the triple jump at the Northern Iowa Invite (48-7 1/4), while placing fourth in the long jump (23-2 1/2)... was hampered by an injured ankle during the outdoor season, but managed to finish seventh in the long jump (24-4 1/2w) and eighth in the triple jump (48-3 1/2) at the Big 12 Championships... qualified for the Midwest Regional in both long jump and triple jump outdoors, but was unable to compete... won the triple jump outdoors with a regional-qualifying mark of 49-9 at the Nebraska Invite. 2004: Roper emerged as one of NU’s top jumpers as a freshman... set a wind-aided career best in the outdoor triple jump (50-5 1/4) to place fourth at the Big 12 outdoor meet... mark of 49-1 3/4 earned fifth at the Big 12 indoor meet... recorded his outdoor personal-best distance of 24-3 in the long jump to finish ninth at Big 12 outdoors... clocked a wind-aided 21.72 in the 200 meters at the Emporia State Relays... won gold in the indoor triple jump at both the Holiday Inn and Prairie Wolf invites... opened the indoor season by claiming first place in the long jump at the Panther Open. High School: Roper came up one-half inch short of winning the 2003 Florida Class 4A state meet with his leap of 49-0 in the triple jump... also placed fourth in the long jump (22-11 3/4) and anchored his 4x400-meter relay (3:16.51) to third place... as a junior, placed third in the Class 4A long jump (23-5 1/2w) and fifth in the triple jump (47-7)... as a freshman he competed in the 2000 state meet and finished a non-scoring ninth place in the triple jump (44-11 3/4)... long jumped 24-0 1/4 for a then-personal best in winning the 2003 Florida Class 4A Region 3 meet... triple jump career best of 49-10 was set at the 2003 BCAA Championships in Coral Springs and was the top seasonal mark by a Florida prep... won the 2003 Florida Relays triple jump title (48-0 3/4)... third in the 2002 Golden South Classic with a triple jump of 47-4.
