2003: Kathryn Handrup ran only two races indoors following recovery from a stress fracture prior to the start of the cross country season... in her first race she ran 10:30.18 in the 3,000 meters at the Prairie Wolf Invitational where she finished third... then clocked a time of 10:05.49 on an oversized track at the Cyclone NCAA Qualifier, finishing fifth... opened the outdoor season with a season-best time of 17:26.42 in the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational... anchored the sixth-place 4xmile relay team to a school record (20:29.62) at the Drake Relays... ran to a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (17:30.87) at the Ward Haylett Invitational... finished 15th at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in the 5,000 meters. 2002: Set two personal bests during the 2002 outdoor season; at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:24.86 and in the 10,000-meter run at the Big 12 Championships with a time of 36:53.89... Handrup redshirted during the 2002 indoor season because of a stress fracture. 2001: Ran the final leg (1,600 meters) for the distance medley relay team that placed fifth at the Big 12 Indoor meet... posted personal-best times in the outdoor 800 meters (2:15.25), indoor mile (4:59.97) and indoor 3,000 meters (10:01.37)... missed the outdoor season with a stress fracture. 2000: Anchored the distance medley relay team that took fifth at the Big 12 Indoor meet... redshirted outdoors to heal sore shins... selected as the most valuable cross country runner. High School: Was the 1997 and 1996 Nebraska Class B state champion in the 1,600-meter run... took second in the Class B 3,200-meter run at the 1999 state meet, despite suffering a midseason stress fracture... as a freshman, ran on the Class B championship 4x800-meter relay team... claimed the Nebraska Class B state cross country title in 1995, 1996 and 1997... was the 1997 and 1996 gold medal champion at the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska state cross country championships.
