2009 (Freshman)

Zachary Simon redshirted both the indoor and outdoor season in his first year at Nebraska... competed as an unattached athlete at the Nebraska Tune-Up during the indoor season, finishing 22nd in the 400 meters with a time of 52.86... ran unattached at the Nebraska Invitational during the outdoor season, posting a time of 51.73 in the 400 meters to place 17th.

 

Before Nebraska (Pius X HS)

Simon qualified for the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships in Class A in 2007 and 2008... ran on the fourth-place 3,200-meter relay team in 2008, while also qualifying in the 400 meters and the 1,600-meter relay, but was unable to compete due to a hamstring injury... coached at Pius X High School by George O’Boyle... earned three letters in track and one in football... chose Nebraska over Nebraska Wesleyan and Emporia State.

 

Personal

Parents are Douglas and Nicole Simon... Zachary is a second-generation Husker, as his mother, Nicole (Ali), was a four-time NCAA All-American for the Huskers on the women’s relays...  born April 3, 1990... majors are business education and cooperative education.
