Before Nebraska
Riggott came to Nebraska from High Wycombe, United Kingdom, where she attended Mount Kelly High School. She joined fellow Mount Kelly swimmer Emily Haimes on the 2023-24 Husker roster. Among Riggott’s top accolades, she captured the 2022 British 50 breaststroke title and was the National Arena League Premier Division Championship winner in 2021 and 2022. She was also a member of the 2022 ESSA National Final winning medley relay team. In 2020, Riggott swam an Olympic Trials-qualifying time in the 50 breaststroke.
Personal
The daughter of Guy Riggott and Zoe Gilbert, Amelia was born on Oct. 13, 2004. She has two sisters, Matilda and Florence. A dual-major in psychology and sports media and communications, Amelia was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2023-24. She was also a member of the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her commitment to service in the Lincoln community.
“I chose Nebraska because I loved everything about my official visit,” Riggott said. “I felt like it was a good fit for me both academically and for my swimming career. The swim team was so welcoming and I got along well with the girls. I believe I can work well with Coach Pablo (Morales) and Pat (Rowan) and they can help me get my swimming to the next level.”
