2015-16 (Senior)
Samantha Hardewig tallied five top-five finishes in her final year at Nebraska. Hardewig had one of her top-performances of the season at the 2016 Big Ten Championships. In the 200-yard individual medley, Hardewig finished in 24th-place and posted an NCAA B Cut time of 2:01.07 during the preliminary round of the race. Hardewig was also impressive in the 400-yard individual medley at the Big Challenge. Hardewig earned third-place after swimming a season-best time of 4:21.84. Hardewig had one of her strongest meets of the season against Northern Iowa, earning third- and fourth-place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley, respectively. In the classroom, Hardewig was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and earned academic All-Big Ten accolades for the third time in her career.

2014-15 (Junior)
Hardewig had an outstanding junior season for the Huskers, totalling 13 top-five finishes, including one victory. Hardewig had a terrific Big Ten Championships, capturing three top-24 finishes, along with two NCAA B Cuts. Hardewig set career bests in all three events at the championships, including a 21st-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.43), a 20th-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.69) and a 17th-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:00.06). Hardewig’s lone victory of the season came against Omaha in the 200-yard breaststroke, where she raced to a time of 2:28.23. In the classroom, Hardewig earned academic All-Big Ten honors and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar for a second straight year.

2013-14 (Sophomore)
Hardewig proved to be a versatile swimmer in 2013-14 season, as she competed in seven events. Hardewig had a season characterized by improvement, setting six career bests. She set three career bests alone at the Big Ten Championships, racing to times of 1:02.88 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:14.69 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and 2:01.39 in the 200-yard individual medley. Hardewig improved 3.83 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 6.85 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and 5.65 in the 200-yard individual medley, at the Big Ten Championships, in Minneapolis. She also made huge jumps from the previous Big Ten Championships in the 200-yard individual medley (57 spots), 200-yard breaststroke (27 spots), and the 100-yard breaststroke (21 spots). A star in the classroom, Hardewig earned academic All-Big Ten honors and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2014.

2012-13 (Freshman)
Hardewig provided depth in the breaststroke events as a freshman in 2012-13, with her best finish coming at South Dakota State. Hardewig swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.35 to take fourth in the event. She also set then-career-best times in the 100 breast (1:06.71), 200 breast (2:21.54) and 200 IM (2:07.04) at the 2013 Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. In the classroom, Hardewig earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13.

Previous
Hardewig graduated from Turpin High School in 2012. Strong in the 200 IM, she qualified for the 2010 Junior Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. Hardewig was also named a USA Scholastic Swimming All-American in 2011 and 2012. She holds multiple team and meet records for the Anderson Barracudas, whom she swam for at the club level. She also holds numerous YMCA National top-10 times. Qualifying five years for the Spring YMCA Nationals, she was a four-event finalist in the 2011 Summer YMCA Nationals (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM) in Atlanta, Ga.

Personal
The daughter of George and Nancy Hardewig, Samantha was born Feb. 6, 1994, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has two sisters, Lexie and Amanda. An art major, Hardewig earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2016. She was a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She was a nine-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She was a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
