2015-16 (Senior)
Nicole Schwery wrapped up an outstanding career at Nebraska by earning 16 top-five finishes, including two victories during her final season as a Husker. Schwery earned victories in the three-meter dive against Illinois and in the platform dive at the Hawkeye Invitational. Against Illinois, Schwery also set a new career-best in the one-meter dive tallying a score of 297.75. At the 2016 Big Ten Championships, Schwery finished in the top-24 of all three events she competed in, with her highest finish (20th) coming in the three-meter dive. Schwery also qualified to compete at the 2016 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. At the Zone Meet, she nearly qualified for the NCAA Championships after her 11th-place finish in the platform dive. In the classroom, she claimed academic All-Big Ten honors for the third consecutive season.
2014-15 (Junior)
Schwery was outstanding during her third season as a Husker. Schwery produced 14 top-five finishes, including two victories. Both of Schwery’s victories came in the platform dive, capturing first-place finishes at the Mizzou Invite (249.10) and Hawkeye Invitational (269.35). Schwery also set career bests in all three diving events. Two of Schwery’s career bests came at the Big Ten Championships, posting a 297.45 in the one-meter dive and a 310.80 in the platform dive. A standout in the classroom, Schwery earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2015.
2013-14 (Sophomore)
Schwery had a strong sophomore season for the Huskers, competing in three events and racking up 12 top-five finishes, including two victories. Schwery’s two wins came in the one-meter dive against Illinois and the three-meter dive against Nebraska-Omaha. In her second season, she also set career bests in all of her events. Two of her career bests came against Illinois, where she produced a score of 297.23 in the one-meter and 313.35 in the three-meter. Schwery was also a star in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014.
2012-13 (Freshman)
Schwery had an outstanding freshman season for the Huskers in 2012-13. She placed in the top five 10 times, including three runner-up finishes in her debut campaign. In her best meet of the season, Schwery took second in both the one- and three-meter dives at Illinois. However, she set season-best scores of 273.45 and 294.53 in the two events against Nebraska-Omaha in October. Her season best in the platform dive was 260.05 at the 2013 Big Ten Championships. Schwery also found success in the classroom, earning spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13.
Previous
Adding to an impressive set of awards in high school, Schwery won the 2012 Nebraska State Diving Championships. A four-year letterwinner in swimming and diving, she also earned two letters in cheerleading for Lincoln Southwest High School. In addition, Schwery was a three-time national qualifier competing for Coach Kris Hoffman and the Nebraska Diving Club, finishing in the top six on the one-meter, three-meter and platform diving events at the 2012 Summer Zone Championships. Schwery was an excellent student as well, earning Scholastic All-America honors each of her four years at Lincoln Southwest. She ranked among the top five percent in her high school class all four years and served as the treasurer for the National Honor Society in her senior year.
Personal
The daughter of John and Brenda Schwery, Nicole was born April 9, 1994, in Lincoln, Neb. She has a sister, Mikala. A biological systems engineering major, Schwery earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 2016. She claimed academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She was an eight-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. She also claimed three spots on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She chose Nebraska over Wyoming and Wisconsin.
