2013-14 (Senior)
Megan Ziemann finished off her Husker career with a Big Ten Championship full of career-bests. The senior set career bests at the conference meet in the 50-yard freestyle (24.31), 100-yard backstroke (57.20), and 200-yard backstroke (2:02.31).  Ziemann also picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke against Northern Iowa.

Ziemann continued to be a star in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten honors for a third year. She also captured a spot on the inaugural Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2014, while helping the swimming and diving program capture its third consecutive Nebraska Life Skills Team Award.

2012-13 (Junior)
Ziemann placed in the top 10 four times in 2012-13, highlighting her third year with the Huskers. She claimed her best finish of the season in the first meet of the year, taking fourth in the 100-yard backstroke against North Dakota/St. Cloud State. Ziemann set two then-career bests at the final meet of the season, finishing the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes in respective times of 57.38 and 2:04.55.

In the classroom, Ziemann earned her second academic All-Big Ten award in 2013. She also was chosen to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13.

2011-12 (Sophomore)
Ziemann showed marked improvement as a sophomore, setting two then-personal-best times during the 2011-12 season. Ziemann’s personal bests came on the season’s biggest stage, the 2012 Big Ten Championships, where she swam a 57.95 in the 100 back and 2:05.52 in the 200 back. Ziemann finished the season with four top-five finishes, including a pair of third-place showings.

The Round Rock, Texas, native excelled in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012. She also claimed spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall semester of 2011 and spring semester of 2012.

2010-11 (Freshman)
Ziemann was one of several freshmen who made immediate impacts for the Huskers in 2010-11. She earned six top-five finishes and showed her versatility by competing in six different events. Ziemann competed in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly events and produced three of the best swims of her career at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. At the conference meet, Ziemann posted then-career-best times in the 100 back, 200 back and 100 fly.

A strong performer in the classroom as well, Ziemann earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011.

Previous
Ziemann came to Nebraska as an accomplished high school swimmer for Coach Erin Murphy at Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Texas. Ziemann claimed a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2008 Texas High School State Championships, earning Texas Class 4A Swimmer of the Year honors. She added a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay at the 2009 Texas state meet.

Personal
Megan was born on Dec. 23, 1991, in Austin, Texas. She is the daughter of Bill and Lori Ziemann and has two brothers, Jeffrey and Tyler. She is an interior design major at Nebraska and earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She has claimed spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in eight consecutive semesters at Nebraska. Ziemann was also a two-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She also captured a spot on the inaugural Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2014, while helping the swimming and diving program capture its third consecutive Nebraska Life Skills Team Award.
