- Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2011)
2012-13 (Sophomore)
Nikolina Sabo notched four top-six finishes on the way to a successful sophomore season with the Huskers. She took second in the 200-yard individual medley against Northern Iowa (2:10.38), marking her highest finish of the season. Sabo also set career-best times of 1:07.09 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 58.60 in the 100-yard butterfly at the Iowa Invitational in December. Overall, she competed in six different events for the Huskers in 2012-13.
2011-12 (Freshman)
Sabo provided valuable depth for the Huskers in 2011-12. The freshman from Croatia swam in seven events for the Huskers and finished in the top five three times in meets against Nebraska-Omaha and South Dakota State. Sabo also set three career-best times at the 2012 Big Ten Championships in February. The freshman swam times of 2:07.36 in the 200-yard IM, 1:08.33 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:20.90 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the classroom, Sabo earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall semester of 2011.
Previous
Sabo added international flare to the Nebraska swimming and diving squad after an impressive showing at the 2010-11 Croatian Championships. She won four events (200-yard butterfly, 50-, 100- and 200-yard IM) and added four second-place finishes (50-, 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, 50-yard butterfly) at the championships. She also notched a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and rounded out the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Sabo has competed in several international events, including the Croatian Team Championships, Croatian Junior Championships and the Open Croatian Championships.
Personal
Nikolina was born Aug. 30, 1992. Her father is Sasa Sabo, and she has one sister, Kristina. Nikolina earned a bachelor's degree from Nebraska in August of 2016. She was a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011.
