2012-13 (Junior)
Mary Beth Rye competed in three events for the Huskers in 2012-13. Her best finish came in the 100-yard butterfly against Nebraska-Omaha when she finished fourth (1:04.17). However, Rye later set a career best in the event when she finished the race in 1:01.49 against San Diego State. She also competed in the 50-yard freestyle twice and the 100-yard freestyle once on the season.

Rye also found success in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten honors in 2013. She also claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2013.

2011-12 (Sophomore)
Rye completed her first year with the Huskers by providing depth to the freestyle and butterfly corps. Rye competed 16 times, including two performances at the 2012 Big Ten Championships. Rye's 100-yard freestyle time at the Big Ten Championships was her career best at Nebraska (55.94). She also set a career-best time at the TYR Invite in November, finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 25.32 seconds.

In the classroom, Rye earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll during the fall semester of 2011.

2010-11 (Freshman)
Rye competed at Nebraska-Omaha as a freshman before transferring to Nebraska. She earned a letter at UNO during a season in which she contributed to the team's sprint corps, tallying a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle against Nebraska.

Previous
Rye attended Lincoln East High School and was a four-time letterwinner and Nebraska state swimming qualifier. Rye was a two-time conference champion in both the 100-yard butterfly (2009) and 200-yard freestyle (2010). Rye also lettered in cheerleading and was an academic all-state selection.

Personal
The daughter of Matt and Debby Rye, Mary Beth was born on Oct. 10, 1991. Mary Beth has two brothers, Seth and Jon, and one sister, Anne Marie. Mary Beth’s father, Matt, was a three-time letterwinner as a member of the Nebraska men’s swimming and diving team. He earned letters for the Huskers in 1981, 1982 and 1983. Mary Beth majored in communications and earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2014. She captured academic All-Big Ten honors in 2013. She also earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2013.
