2012-13 (Senior)
Ellan Dufour (du-FOR) concluded a stellar senior season at the 2013 Big Ten Championships, setting two career bests and one school record. Her time of 1:57.23 in the 200-yard backstroke eclipsed the 18-year-old mark of 1:57.99 set by Jane Glazebrook in 1995. Dufour also set a career-best time in the 100-yard backstroke at the conference meet, finishing in 54.61 to move into second on the all-time Nebraska list. After winning four events and finishing in the top five 11 times in 2012-13, Dufour ended her career with 13 victories and 56 top-five finishes.
Dufour also found success in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten recognition in 2013 and a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2012.
2011-12 (Junior)
Dufour returned to the pool with Nebraska for her junior season and competed in six events for the Huskers. The backstroke specialist produced top-five finishes on nine occasions, including three wins in the 200-yard backstroke (UNO, Iowa State, South Dakota State) and a win in the 100-yard backstroke (Iowa State).
In the classroom, Dufour earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2011-12.
2010-11 (Sophomore)
Dufour took immediate strides forward for the Huskers during her sophomore year, ranking second on the team with 22Â top-five finishes on the season. Dufour also marked her place in Husker history with the then-second-fastest 100-yard backstroke in school history (55.08). The Medicine Hat, Alberta native also helped the 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams into the record books. Along with teammates Shannon Guy, Kelsey Grushecky and Ariel Weech, Dufour was a part of what was then the fastest 200-yard medley relay in school history (1:41.08). Dufour also earned a spot on the 2011 spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2009-10 (Freshman)
Dufour produced an impressive freshman season at Nebraska with 14 top-five finishes to rank ninth among the Huskers and fourth among NU freshmen. She recorded five wins, including three in the 200-yard backstroke and two in the 100-yard backstroke. Her times in the 100 and 200 backstrokes were the best by a Husker in 2009-10.
Previous
Dufour swam for the Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club team for Coach Peter Schori in high school and was named team captain in both 2007-08 and 2008-09. She also earned the team Leadership Award both years. Dufour competed in the 2008 Canadian Olympic Trials, and at the 2008 Age Group Nationals, where she finished third in the 100-yard backstroke. She was a member of the Honor Roll at Crescent Heights High School five consecutive years, as well as being named a Super Seven Award winner.
Personal
Ellan was born on Feb. 1, 1991, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. She is the daughter of David and Irene Dufour and has two brothers, William and Graeme. A fisheries and wildlife major with a minor in animal science, Ellan earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2014. She claimed academic All-Big Ten honors in 2013. She earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall semesters of 2011, 2012 and 2013 and the spring semesters of 2012 and 2014. Dufour was also a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring of 2011.
