Toomey competed well in her first season at Nebraska, finishing the year with five top-five finishes. Her best meet came against South Dakota State when she finished fifth in both the one-meter dive and in the three-meter dive. She also had a fourth-place finish at Missouri in the three-meter dive with a career-best score of 242.17.
Previous
Toomey came to Nebraska after a solid diving career at Lafayette High School under Coach Todd Gable. Toomey competed at the 2009 Missouri State Championships, where she finished 19th in the one-meter dive. Toomey also competed with the St. Louis Diving Club team for Coach Greg Triefenbach.
Personal
Shannon was born on July 19, 1990, in St. Louis, Mo. She is the daughter of Mike and Trice Toomey. Shannon is majoring in elementary education at Nebraska.
