2010-11 (Senior) 

Julie Giehl ended her Husker career with a solid senior sendoff. The academic standout earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors and a spot on each of the 2010 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Rolls (fall 2010, spring 2011). Giehl swam her way to five top-five finishes on the season, including a third-place finish against South Dakota in the 400-yard freestyle (4:42.42). Giehl also tallied four fifth-place finishes.

2009-10 (Junior)
Giehl had a productive junior season, accumulating 11 top-five finishes, including a win in the 200-yard freestyle against Illinois in October. Giehl was able to finish in the top five in four events and set two personal bests in the 100-yard freestyle (52.93) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.46).

2008-09 (Sophomore)
Giehl got off to a tremendous start in the 2008-09 season. She won the 200-yard freestyle and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in the team's first dual meet of the year against Illinois. She had six top-five finishes overall on the year, including five in the top three. Giehl set career-best times in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke at the Big 12 Championships. She earned first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades.

2007-08 (Freshman)
Giehl was a force in five of the six freestyle events as a freshman, finishing the year with a top-five team time in every freestyle event except the 50 yard, including the team's fastest 200-yard time (1:50.94). Nine of Giehl's 14 top-five finishes on the year were first-place finishes (with five coming in the 500-yard freestyle). Giehl finished 15th in the 200-yard freestyle at the Big 12 Championships, setting a career-best time in the process.

Previous
Giehl ended her high school career with the 2007 Colorado Class 5A 200-yard freestyle state championship after finishing third as a junior in 2006. She was named a 2007 high school All-American in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and was a first-team all-state selection. Her outstanding performances in four state meets led Fairview High School to three consecutive runner-up team finishes. Also a strong breaststroker, Giehl set the Boulder County 100-yard breaststroke record with a time of 1:08.98 in 2007. Following her career, she was named the Boulder Daily Camera's Swimmer of the Year and recognized by the Denver Post as a member of the All-Colorado team.

Personal
Julie was born on March 18, 1989 in Boulder, Colo. She is the daughter of Nancy and Alan Giehl and has one sister, Megan, and one brother, Jon. Julie is majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in pre-political science. Giehl earned first team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She is a eight-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
