2010-11 (Senior)
Blaine Hoppenrath finished her career at Nebraska strong, recording three season-best times at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. Hoppenrath earned an 11th-place finish in the 400 individual medley and a 13th-place showing in the 200-yard butterfly at the conference championships. Hoppenrath claimed a pair of event titles in the 200 fly on the year with wins against Iowa State and Wyoming/North Dakota. The Kansas City, Mo., native closed her Husker career with the fifth-fastest 200-fly time (2:00.12) in school history. Hoppenrath also excelled in the classroom, claiming second-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2011. She was also a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2009-10 (Junior)
Hoppenrath continued to flourish as one of Nebraska's most flexible swimmers. In her junior season, Hoppenrath finished in the top-five in seven events, with a total of 12 top-five finishes on the year. Hoppenrath notched a second-place finish against UNO in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She also recorded top-five times in four events on NU's season charts (1,000, and 1,650 free, 200 fly, and 400 IM)
2008-09 (Sophomore)
Hoppenrath was one of Nebraska's most diverse swimmers with top-five times in five events on the year, including the team's fastest 400-yard IM time. She ended the year with 10 top-five finishes, including a title in the 200-yard butterfly in Nebraska's dual meet against Missouri. She ended the season by setting four career-best times at the Big 12 Championships and Last Chance Meet. She finished in 13th place in both the 1,650-yard freestyle and 400 IM, and 12th in the 200 fly at the conference meet, giving her six top-16 finishes in her first two seasons at the Big 12 Championships.
2007-08 (Freshman)
Hoppenrath used her versatility to claim 20 top-five finishes to tie for the team lead in that department. She produced her first victory in the 200-yard butterfly against South Dakota State. Hoppenrath ranked among the top five on NU's 2007-08 performance list in five events. She owned the team's second-fastest time in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 400-yard IM. Hoppenrath capped her freshman campaign by setting four career-best times and finishing in the top 16 in three events at the Big 12 Championships.
Previous
Hoppenrath finished third in the 500-yard freestyle and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley at the 2006 Class 4 Missouri state meet. She set six school records (four individual and two on relay teams) at Liberty High School in the same season, while earning first-team all-state and all-metro honors. As a member of the Kansas City Blazers, Hoppenrath was the Central Zone High Point runner-up and was named the team's Most Inspirational Swimmer in 2005. She was also a 10-time Top 8 Sectional finisher and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in high school.
Personal
Blaine was born on June 7, 1989 in Overland Park, Kan. She is the daughter of John and Amy Hoppenrath and has one brother, Michael. Blaine is majoring in industrial engineering at Nebraska. She earned second-team academic All-Big 12 honors as a senior in 2011, and was a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
