2009-10 Season Outlook
Sarah Ziegelmann is one of two seniors on the squad with significant experience in the sprint freestyle, as she has been a fixture in the NU lineup in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, and will likely be one of Nebraska's top swimmers in those events in 2009-10. Ziegelmann also has experience in the 100-yard breaststroke, where she took 21st at the Big 12 Championships as a junior in 2008-09. She has improved every year she has been at Nebraska, and Coach Pablo Morales expects big things out of the Fargo, N.D., native in her final season as a Husker.

2008-09 (Junior)
Ziegelmann had her best season as a Husker in 2008-09, setting career-best times in four events, including three at the Big 12 Championships. Ziegelmann had a fourth-place finish against Nebraska-Omaha in the 25-yard breaststroke, and had five top-10 finishes overall on the year. Ziegelmann finished 21st in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Big 12 Championships, her best finish at the conference meet in her career. She finished with the fourth-fastest 100-yard breaststroke time on the team with a time of 1:06.49.

2007-08 (Sophomore)
Ziegelmann was slowed during the Big 12 Championships in her sophomore year by an illness. In the regular season, she added depth to the Huskers' sprint freestyle group, and also competed in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. Ziegelmann earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke against South Dakota State and a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly against conference foe Missouri. Ziegelmann finished the year as Nebraska's only swimmer to earn a 4.0 GPA in both the spring and fall semester, and captured first-team academic-All Big 12 honors.

2006-07 (Freshman)
Ziegelmann had four top-five finishes, including three in the 100-yard freestyle, during her first season with the Huskers. In her first collegiate meet, Ziegelmann finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle as the Huskers defeated the Missouri State Bears, to open the season. She added a pair of top-five finishes in another Nebraska road victory at South Dakota State in the 50- (fifth) and 100-yard freestyle (fourth). She also swam the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly during the 2006-07 season, finishing as high as sixth in the 200 free at Northern Iowa. Ziegelmann competed in three events at the 2007 Big 12 Championships, finishing 28th in the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 24.98.

Previous
Ziegelmann was a North Dakota state champion in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay as a junior before placing runner-up as a senior in the 50 free. The 2006 Eastern Dakota Conference Senior Athlete of the Year, Ziegelmann earned first-team all-state and first-team all-conference honors all four years of high school.
