2010-11 Season Outlook
Jess Andrews looks to take another step in making her mark on Nebraska's history in the coming season. Coming off a successful junior season, Andrews looks to make even bigger strides in the freestyle and butterfly events. After three solid seasons, Andrews may be ready to make a major impact for the Huskers in 2010-11.

2009-10 (Junior)
Andrews came back in her junior season with many strong showings in 2009-10. Over the course of the year, Andrews compiled 16 top-five finishes, including two first-place showings in the 100-yard butterfly at both South Dakota State and UNO. Her 16 top-five finishes ranked sixth on the team. Andrews was strong across the board, capturing multiple top-five finishes in each of her three events. (50- and 100-yard freestyles and the 100-yard butterfly.

2008-09 (Sophomore)
Andrews had one of the best seasons on the Husker team in 2008-09, finishing with 16 top-three and six first-place finishes. Andrews was especially impressive in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races, as she finished no lower than third place in either event in each of Nebraska's dual meets. Andrews set career-best times in both the 50 and 100 free and also the 100-yard butterfly at the Big 12 Championships, where she picked up her first top-10 finish at the conference meet. She placed ninth in the 50 free with a career-best time of 23.12.

2007-08 (Freshman)
Andrews had a fantastic freshman season after coming to Lincoln as a two-time high school All-American. She immediately became one of Nebraska's top sprint freestylers, ending the season with NU's second-best 50-yard freestyle time (23.79). Andrews also swam in the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, and between the three events finished the season with 10 top-five finishes. Andrews had a 12th-place finish in the 50 free at the Big 12 Championships, and also had a 24th-place (100 free) and 19th-place (100 fly) finish at the event.

Previous
Andrews was a nine-time state champion at Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyo., while qualifying for the state meet all four years for the Camels. She had her most successful state meet as a junior in the fall of 2005, winning four gold medals (50 free, 100 free, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay). A four-time selection to the Wyoming Coaches Association all-conference and all-state teams, Andrews received high school All-America honors in 2005 (sophomore, 100 freestyle) and 2007 (50 freestyle). As a senior, she was named the 2007 Wyoming Aquatic Athlete of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet at the state championships.

Personal
Jess is the daughter of Andy and Lisa Andrews and was born on Oct. 2, 1988, in Cody, Wyo. She has one sister, Andrea. Jess is majoring in pre-medicine.
