2008-09 Season Outlook

Sprint freestyle specialist Jenna Stroud will embrace a bigger responsibility this season, as she is one of the most experienced swimmers and one of five seniors on the squad. The Huskers will rely on Stroud’s consistency in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, after she finished in the top five every time she swam those events in Nebraska’s 7-2 campaign last season.

2007-08 (Junior)

Stroud was a mainstay in the sprint freestyle events for Nebraska in 2007-08, competing in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle in eight of NU’s nine duals. Stroud was extremely consistent for the Huskers in those two events, finishing in the top five in both events in all eight of those duals. While she didn’t record a victory in those races, she earned six second-place and five third-place finishes. She swam the fifth-fastest 50 free (24.25) and fourth-fastest 100 free (52.29) on the team in 2007-08.

2006-07 (Sophomore)

Stroud improved her finishes at the Big 12 Championships in both the 100- (14th) and 200-yard freestyle (15th) to reach the top 15. Along the way, she set career-best marks of 51.88 in the 100 and 24.06 in the 50. The 100 mark was the fastest of the season for the Huskers, after she finished in the top three in the event five times during the regular season. Stroud showed her ability to swim in middle distance races as well, winning the 200-yard freestyle at Nebraska-Omaha and placing 21st at the conference meet in a career-best time of 1:53.49, more than two seconds faster than her previous mark of 1:55.76.

2005-06 (Freshman)

Stroud produced in her first season as a Husker by adding depth at the sprint freestyle position. She set season-best times in both the 50- (24.28, 19th) and 100-yard freestyle (52.36, 20th) events at the Big 12 Championships. Stroud had a season-high second-place performance in the 100 free against Northern Iowa and placed third against IowaState in the same event. She added third-place finishes in the 50 free against the Cyclones and Nebraska-Omaha. Stroud also swam the 200-yard freestyle at five meets during the season, as well as the 100-yard backstroke three times.
