2006-07 Season Outlook

Katie Bowden returns to action after sitting out the 2005-06 season. She competed in the 2006 Scarlet vs. Cream Intrasquad meet and is set to contribute to the distance freestyle squad as a senior.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

2005-06 (Junior)

Bowden sat out her junior season as she recovered from two shoulder surgeries - one in October of 2005 and another in December.

 

2004-05 (Sophomore)

Bowden transferred from <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>South Carolina and competed for the Huskers during the 2004-05 season. At the 2005 Big 12 Championships she finished 14th in the 100-free (52.51), 15th in the 200-free (1:52.53) and 23rd in the 500-free (5:01.94).

 

2003-04 (Freshman; South Carolina)

Bowden swam at South Carolina for one season before transferring to NU.  She finished 14th in the SEC 200-yard freestyle and 12th in the 1,500-yard freestyle as a freshman.

 

Previous

Bowden earned six All-America honors in high school.  She won the Florida state title in the 4x100 freestyle relay in 2001 and lettered in swimming all four years at DurantHigh School. 

 

Personal

Bowden was born on March 12, 1984, in Plant City, Fla.  She is the daughter of Bud and Pam Bowden.  Katherine has one brother, Chip, and one sister, Chelsea.  Katherine is majoring in criminal justice at Nebraska.
