2005-06 Season Outlook<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Rachel Schlatter hopes to finish a strong career as the Huskers' fastest breaststroker as a senior.  Schlatter has set high standards for herself during her career, and has the ability to take first-place finishes and make a run at postseason success.  She set one NCAA-provisional qualifying time as a junior, and will try to earn her first bid to the NCAA Championships as a senior.

 

2004-05 (Junior)

Schlatter was NU's top breaststroker as a junior, owning the top times on the team in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events.  The team co-captain registered 10 top 10 finishes in the breaststroke events on the year, and ended on a strong note with first and second-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke against <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Missouri.  Schlatter also competed in the IM races for the Huskers, and placed as high as seventh in the 200-yard IM at the San Diego Invitational.  Schlatter placed seventh at the Big 12 Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke in an NCAA-provisional time of 1:03.79, and added a ninth-place finish in the 200.     

 

2003-04 (Sophomore)

Schlatter started the season with a win against SouthwestMissouriState in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.51).  She earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke against No. 23 Missouri.  Schlatter finished fifth at the Big 12 Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 1:03.70.  For the second year in a row, she was named Husker Power swimming and diving Lifter of the Year.  She set school records with a squat of 232 pounds and a power clean lift of 63 kilograms.

 

2002-03 (Freshman)

Schlatter took home 10th in the 100-yard breast (1:04.57) and 11th in the 200-yard breast (2:22.14) at the Big 12 Championships.  She picked up wins in the 200-yard breaststroke at Northern Arizona and against TrumanState.  Schlatter finished second on the season charts in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.57) and first in the 200-yard breaststroke event (2:22.14).  She was named Husker Power swimming and diving Lifter of the Year.

 

Previous

A two-time captain at MiddletonHigh School, Schlatter was a three-time all-state selection and set the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.05) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.27).  She also swam for the Badger Aquatics Club and coaches Jack Pettinger and Drew Walden.  Schlatter was also an honor roll student at Middleton.

 

Personal

Rachel is the daughter of Julie and Terry Schlatter and was born on Oct. 5, 1983, in West Lafayette, Ind.  Rachel has one sister, Renee.  Rachel is majoring in advertising at Nebraska.
