2005-06 Season Outlook<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Sprint freestyler Kate Dulgar (DULL-ger) improved her times in every event she competed in last year and will look to lower those marks even more in her final season as a Husker.  The senior has a taste of top three finishes, and could score major points this year for <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska.

 

2004-05 (Junior)

Dulgar was a strong 50-yard freestyler for the Huskers as a junior, and also regularly competed in the 100-yard backstroke and freestyle.  Dulgar swam to a season-high second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the San Diego Invite, and picked up third-place finishes in the event against TrumanState and Kansas.  Dulgar also took second in the 100-yard backstroke at the San Diego Invite.  At the Big 12 Championships, Dulgar set career best marks in all three events.  

 

2003-04 (Sophomore)

Dulgar had a solid season, helping the Huskers pick up a win against Nebraska-Omaha with a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.38).  She also contributed in relay events at the Big 12 Relays, helping her squad pick up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.10.  Dulgar recorded two season-best times against IowaState, clocking times of 25.22 in the 50-yard freestyle and 55.25 in the 100-yard freestyle.  Her best time of the season in the 100-yard backstroke came against SouthwestMissouriState with a time of 1:03.38.

 

2002-03 (Freshman)

Dulgar recorded the fourth-best time on the squad and a career best in the 50-yard freestyle at IowaState (24.63) and the second-best mark in the 100-yard freestyle at the Texas Invitational (53.56).  She also picked up six third-place finishes on the season, including taking third against Texas in the 50-yard freestyle (25.24).

 

Previous

Dulgar was a member of two high school All-America relays, the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle relay at Torrey Pines.  She helped lead Torrey Pines to a first-place finish at the California Interscholastic Federation Meet all four years.  Dulgar won back-to-back CIF titles in the 50-yard freestyle.  She swam for Coach Jeff Pease at TPHS and also swam for the North Coast Aquatics Club.

 

Personal

Kate is the daughter of Debbie and Gary Dulgar and was born on Oct. 5, 1984 in Greeley, Colo.  She has one sister, Stephanie.  Kate is majoring in elementary education.
