Amie Buoy

2005-06 Season Outlook<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Senior Amie Buoy (BOY) has made an impact as one of the most talented and successful divers in NU history.  She is among the all-time top five on the three-meter dive, and hopes to improve her marks in her final season at <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska.  Buoy has the potential to sweep both boards in dual events, and could challenge for a conference title and an NCAA Championships appearance this season.

 

2004-05 (Junior)

Buoy qualified for her first NCAA Championships after narrowly missing out during her first two years as a Husker.  Buoy used fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Zone D Diving meet March 11-13 in College Station, Texas to become the second Husker to compete at the 2005 national event, and the first diver to compete at NCAA's since 1991.  During the regular season, Buoy qualified for her third-straight NCAA Zone Diving meet with NCAA qualifying marks in the one- and three-meter boards on six occasions.  Buoy’s career-high score of 500.45 at the Minnesota Invitational helped her capture the November Big 12 Diver-of-the-Month award, and placed her fifth on NU’s all-time charts.  In dual action, Buoy won the three-meter board four times and the one meter twice.

 

2003-04 (Sophomore)

Buoy was NU's top diver as a sophomore, posting solid scores at dual meets and at the Big 12 Championships.  She placed fourth on the one meter at the Big 12 meet (260.4) and third on the three meter with a season-best score of 498.60 that also placed her fifth on NU's all-time list.  Buoy ended her season with a second-place finish at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.

 

 

2002-03 (Freshman)

Buoy was one of the top divers in the Big 12 Conference, placing among the top five on both springboards at the 2003 league meet.  She placed fourth on the one meter at the conference meet (269.25) and third on the three meter (494.25).  Buoy also placed fifth on the three meter against Nevada, Northern Arizona, Iowa State, Kansas and Louisville.  She won the one meter against Kansas and Louisville.

 

Previous

Buoy earned a 12th-place finish at the 2002 World Age Group Meet in Germany with a score of 372.45, after scoring 390.20 and placing 10th after the preliminary round.  She finished sixth at the Canadian Senior National Meet, earning a spot at the world meet.  Buoy finished seventh on the one meter at the 2001 Canada Games and took 10th on the three meter and 12th on the platform at the same meet.  She won the gold medal at the 2001 Summer Provincial Games on both springboards in group A.  Buoy competed for Coach Gao Min and the Edmonton Kinsmen Dive Club.

 

Personal

Amie was born on July 7, 1984, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Lana and Brian Buoy.  Amie has one sister, Mallorie, and one brother, Curtis.  She is majoring in international studies at Nebraska.
