2002-03 Season Outlook

After two injury-plagued seasons, Susan Walker will look to regain the form of her first season at NU. A two-time team captain, Walker's experience will be a valuable asset to the young Huskers. Walker will be one of the team leaders in the distance freestyle events as well as the individual medley events and the relays. Despite her injuries, Walker holds fourth-place on NU's all-time charts in the 1,650-yard free (16:49.44).

 

 

As a Junior (2001-02)

During her junior campaign, Walker never fully recovered from a back injury and was forced out of action shortly after the new year...competed well for NU before aggravating her back injury, placing 21st in the 400-yard IM (4:28.20) at Minnesota as well as 42nd (5:09.59) in the 500-yard free at the Texas Invitational...won five events at the Red-White meet...took third in the 1,000-yard free at Florida Atlantic (10:47.19) in her final competition of the season...Walker filled a valuable leadership role early in the year as NU's top swimmer, and assisted the coaching staff while injured...earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the second straight season. 

 

 

As a Sophomore (2000-01)

She battled a back injury throughout the season, but Walker still had a solid year for the Huskers in the distance events...finished 22nd at the Big 12 Conference meet in the 400-yard IM (4:37.26), and 23rd in the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.96)...earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.

 

 

As a Freshman (1999-2000)

Walker just missed an NCAA berth her freshman season, recording NU's top time of the year and fourth-best all-time mark with a clocking of 16:49.44 in the 1,650-yard freestyle...recorded NU's No. 2 time on the year in the 1,000 free (10:19.36)...finished sixth in the 1,650 free and seventh in the 500 free at the Big 12 Championships...set new personal-best times at the Big 12 meet in the 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard free events.

Walker took sixth in the 500 and seventh in the 200 free, as Plano cruised to the 1998 state title...placed fourth in the 500 free at the state championships in 1999 on her way to earning All-America honors...finished seventh in the 1,500-meter free at Junior Nationals in 1999.
