  Freshman (1996-97)
  Sara Havens earned her best time in the 200 backstroke at the Big 12 Championships. She swam a time of 2:02.65. Her time at the conference meet in the 100 back gave her the fastest time in the event on the team. Her time of 55.70 was nearly half a second faster than the next best on the team. 
  
  Before Nebraska
  During her career at Lander Valley High School, Havens set three Wyoming state backstroke records (in 1993, 1994 and 1996) and earned three letters. Her honors include being named the Wyoming Female Aquatic Athlete-of-the-Year in 1994. She swam on the Lander Tiger Sharks USS team.

  Sara was born on April 8, 1978, to James and Janice Havens.
