    Freshman (1998-99)

    Bernth posted a solid freshman campaign highlighted by her exhibition dive at the Big 12 Championships. She managed to post an 11-dive score of 357.95 on the one-meter springboard and qualified for finals. She established a career-best total of 374.35 while competing in the exhibition on the three-meter board at the conference meet. She qualified for the NCAA Zone D Championships, where she finished 28th on the three-meter board (332.30). 

    Closing out the home season, Bernth used a score of 267.27 on the one-meter board against Missouri to win the event.

    Before Nebraska
    Bernth finished 16th on the one-meter at Junior Nationals in the spring of 1998. She was also a runner-up in one-meter competition at the state high school championships for three consecutive years. She was a four-time MVP of the Ralston swimming and diving team and the 1998 Ralston Athlete of the Year.
