2021 (Senior)
Kenzie Coons played in 17 games for the Huskers, starting eight and amassing 892 minutes. She played a season-high 94 minutes in the double-overtime tie at Maryland on Sept. 23. Coons recorded one assist on the year in the Huskers’ matchup against Arizona on Sept. 12. She tallied 10 shots on the year, six of which were shots on goal. Coons made eight starts in a row through the month of September and October.

2020-21 (Junior)
Coons started nine of the Huskers’ 10 games. She tallied her fourth career point with an assist in the 2-1 win over Purdue (Mar. 4). Coons took nine shots on the season and four shots on goal. She played the entire double-overtime game against Wisconsin and saw over 80 minutes of action in six games for the Huskers. Coons totaled 756 minutes on the field for the season.  

2019 (Sophomore)
Coons started all 18 games and amassed 1,484 minutes. She took 12 shots, three of which were on goal. Coons played 90 or more minutes on six occasions and never played less than 59 minutes in a game during the season. 

2018 (Freshman)
Coons earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team accolades after playing in every game during her first year at Nebraska. Coons, who started 12 of her 21 appearances, scored one goal and tallied one assist, while taking 10 shots (three shots on goal) in 1,224 minutes. She netted her first career goal on Sept. 9 in the 39th minute of Nebraska's 2-1 road win over 13th-ranked NC State. On Sept. 20, Coons assisted Faith Carter's game-winning overtime goal against Indiana in the 91st minute. Coons progressively played more minutes as the season went on, tallying 70 or more minutes in nine of the last 13 games. NU posted a 9-7-5 mark and tied for fifth in the Big Ten at 5-3-3.

Before Nebraska (Texas Tech)
Coons spent one semester at Texas Tech as a mid-year enrollee in January 2018 before coming to Nebraska.

High School
Coons played for Millard West under Coach Jackie Tevis Butler. A first-team all-state performer, Coons helped the Wildcats win the 2015 state title, while making the semifinals in 2016 and 2017. In the classroom, Coons earned academic all-state honors.

Other Information
Coons played club soccer for Elite Girls Academy under Coach Marcus Kelcher. A winner of the team’s leadership award, Coons helped Elite Girls Academy capture the State Cup in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018, while making the regional finals in 2018.

Personal Information
Kenzie is the daughter of Shannon and Jerry Garcia, and was born on Oct. 19, 1999. Kenzie has one sister, Jordan, and one brother, Christopher. A psychology major, Kenzie earned her bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2022.
