Alex Melin joined the Nebraska soccer staff as a volunteer coach in 2017. In her first season with the Huskers, Melin helped NU to a 9-5-5 record.
Melin spent the majority of the last three years in Tulsa, Okla., as a training coach for the TSC Hurricane. Since October 2016, she has developed the skill of players from age 6 to 13. Melin also served as a math teacher at Collegiate Hall Charter School in Tulsa for two years and as a physical education teacher for one year.
Melin played college soccer at Iowa, where she graduated in May 2014 with a degree in elementary education. She started all 82 games for the Hawkeyes, serving as team captain during her last two seasons. Melin was a third-team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region selection in 2013, and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors on three occasions.
She played professionally for AFC AJAX in the Netherlands for one year following graduation.
