2014 (Senior)
Samantha Areman (pronounced Air-man) started all 19 games for the Husker defense during her final season at Nebraska.

Averaging 85 minutes per game, Areman earned one assist, which came in the final game of the 2014 campaign. Her corner kick in the 35th minute against Iowa was headed in by Caroline Flynn.

Areman took four shots for the year, one of which was on goal. 

2013 (Junior)
Areman competed in 23 matches, including 19 starts, while averaging 64 minutes per game.

On the year, Areman racked up one goal and four assists, including a pair of game winners and amassed six shot attempts with four on net.

Areman earned an assist on a well-executed corner kick that was headed in by Mayme Conroy in the season-opening 4-0 victory over Southeast Missouri on Aug. 23 at the Nebraska Soccer Field.

In the next match, Areman recorded her second career goal, and first since her freshman year, at the 85:58 mark with a header off a cross from Katie Kraeutner en route to a 4-1 victory over Cincinnati.

Areman came through in a big spot on Sept. 22 at home against No. 14 Denver, as the Huskers pulled out the 2-1 victory. Areman sent in a crossing pass from 25 yards out to Jaycie Johnson who headed it in from the penalty spot for the game-winner in the 79th minute.

In postseason play, Areman connected with Jordan Jackson for the game-winning assist in the 4-1 first round victory at the Big Ten Tournament. Areman also helped out on the third of Johnson's four goals in the NCAA Tournament first round victory over Southeastern Louisiana.

2012 (Sophomore)
Areman saw action in 17 of Nebraska's 20 games in 2012, including three starts. Two of her starts came during Big Ten play, including a home game with Indiana on Sept. 23, and a road game at Michigan State on Sept. 28.

Areman put six of her nine shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net.

2011 (Freshman)
Areman played in 16 games for the Huskers as a true freshman in 2011, including nine of the Huskers' 11 Big Ten Conference contests.

Areman scored her first career goal in an 8-1 win over Northern Arizona on Sept. 4 at the Nebraska Soccer Field. She was one of three true freshmen on the 2011 squad to score a goal on the season, joining Caroline Gray and Mayme Conroy.

Areman took seven shots on the season, including four on goal.

High School
Areman scored 48 goals and added 43 assists in her four seasons at Norris High School.
A three-time first-team all-state and 2011 first-team Super-State selection by the Lincoln Journal Star, Areman guided the Titans to three straight state tournament appearances and two district titles.

As a freshman in 2008, she scored the game-winning goal to give Norris its first district championship.

Areman was a second-team Super-State selection in 2010 and was named to the EMC All-Conference team each year.

Also a standout point guard on the hardwood, Areman was a two-time honorable-mention all-state and all-conference selection.

A member of the National Honor Society and a 2010 academic all-state honoree, Areman is the first Norris High graduate to play for the Huskers in the soccer program's history.

Other Information
On the club level, Areman played for the CSA Ambush under Coach Rudy Wagner. The club finished runner-up at Nebraska's state tournament seven years in a row from 2004 to 2010.

Personal Information
Samantha is the daughter of Bryan and Tracey Areman and was born on July 18, 1993. She has one brother, J.D., and one sister, Emma. Samantha is majoring in marketing at Nebraska. She is a nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and achieved Academic All-Big Ten honors on three occasions. She was also Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for women's soccer in 2014. Areman captured a coveted Nebraska Student-Athlete Heart and Soul Award in 2015. She was a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
