High School
Alex Massey was one of the top scorers in the state of Missouri during her career at Kearney High School under Coach Jackie Haller. Massey scored 168 goals for the Bulldogs and set a state record for goals scored by a freshman in a season with 59 in 2009, while the record also ranks third overall behind former Huskers Morgan Marlborough (63) and Michaella Fulmer (60). For her efforts in 2009, Massey earned all-metro honorable-mention accolades from the Kansas City Star. She scored six goals, all in the first half, in a single game against Ruskin as a freshman.

Massey earned first-team all-conference and all-district honors as a sophomore after scoring 39 goals. She continued to score as a junior with 23 goals, while adding 23 assists as defenses focused on slowing her goal-scoring ability.

In 2012, Massey led Kearney to a 24-2 record and a Class 3 state tournament appearance, but the Bulldogs lost to Park Hill in the opening round, 3-2. Individually she scored 47 goals and added 27 assists. She received first-team all-conference and first-team all-district honors.

Along with her success on the soccer field, Massey earned four letters in tennis and was one of 16 singles players to qualify for the 2011 state tournament.

In the classroom, Massey was named a Top 100 Scholar Athlete by the Kansas City Star and received the U.S. Army Reserve's National Scholar-Athlete Award.

Massey on Nebraska
"I love the atmosphere of Nebraska, with their passion and loyalty to their team. Everyone I have met at the school has been warm and friendly. The school offered a great education for me as a student, and I also loved the unity of the soccer team. I can't wait to be part of that unity myself."
