2008 Season
A Husker leader on the field and in the classroom, Sari Raber posted seven points on three goals and one assist. Her season was highlighted by game-winning goals against Missouri on Sept. 28 and Texas Tech on Oct. 19. Raber began the season with an assist against Northwestern, and also scored against Colorado on Oct. 17. She started all but one of NU’s 2008 contests, and appeared in all 20 games.
She earned academic All-Big 12 first-team honors for a third consecutive season and was named to the CoSIDA academic All-District VII first-team.
2007 Season
Raber was one of just six Huskers to start all 19 contests for Nebraska in 2007. Her experience and calmness in the midfield helped her develop into a leader of the 2007 squad, as she finished second on the team with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Raber opened with a goal against Northwestern in Nebraska's season-opening 2-0 win over the Wildcats and notched one more in a 2-1 victory over Missouri State to earn two goals in her first three games.
Raber showed her ability to effectively distribute the ball with two assists against Saint Louis and Lamar. Both came in landslide Nebraska victories, as the Huskers topped the Billikens 5-1 on Sept. 21, and defeated Lamar 4-0 on Oct. 12.
Raber followed her assist against the Cardinals with a goal versus Texas Tech in the next game. Raber's final point of the season came against Texas A&M on Oct. 21, as she assisted on Nebraska's only goal against the Aggies. The Huskers were 4-2 in 2007 when Raber scored a point.
2006 Season
After missing the 2005 season due to injury, Raber got back into the Nebraska lineup in 2006 and made her mark. Raber earned 10 starts in 19 games and notched the second goal of her career in Nebraska's 4-0 win over TCU on Sept. 17. She added an assist in NU's 4-1 win over Drake on Sept. 10 for a total of three points on the season. Overall, Raber took seven shots, including two on goal.
2005 Season
Raber sat out the entire 2005 season with an injury.
2004 Season
Raber saw the most playing time of any of the six freshmen in the 2004 class, starting 19 games and logging 1,490 minutes before leaving to compete for the Canadian Under-19 National Team in the World Championships.
A two-year member of the Canadian Under-19 National Team, the Richmond, B.C., native came to Nebraska with plenty of top-level experience, and it showed in her first season. One of the fastest players on the team, Raber played mostly defender after being projected as a forward before she reported for fall camp.
Raber was also involved in the Huskers' offensive attack. She pushed forward frequently late in the year, and recorded her first career goal against Oklahoma State on Oct. 22. Raber notched two assists the weekend of Oct. 15-17, after recording the first assist of her career on Sept. 26 against Iowa State. The assist against the Cyclones proved to be the game-winner in the Huskers' 3-2 victory. Raber ranked third on the team with three assists.
High School
Raber attended Robert A. McMath Secondary school and was named the McMath Female Athlete of the Year three times. She was the city of Richmond’s Junior Athlete of the Year in 2003. Raber also ran cross country for McMath.
In the classroom, she made the Principal’s Honor Roll (3.5 grade-point average or better) 15 consecutive terms and earned more than 35 academic awards. She also won the McMath Cup (which is awarded to the top all-around student) four times.
Other Information
Raber joined fellow Huskers Selenia Iacchelli, Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia on the Vancouver Whitecaps of the W-League during the 2007 offseason. She returned to the league to play for the Ottawa Fury in 2008.
Raber was also a member of the Canadian Senior National Team, the U-19 and U-20 Canadian National Teams and is a four-time member of the British Columbia Provincial All-Star team.
Raber joined former Huskers Brittany Timko and Tanya Dennis in the U-19 World Championships in 2004, helping the Canadians to a berth in the quarterfinals.
She also competed at the 2006 U-20 World Championships in Russia alongside Iacchelli and Aysha Jamani.
Personal
Sari was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Jan. 1, 1986. She is the daughter of Rowena and Bruce Raber and has one sister, Caylee. Sari is majoring in psychology.
