2008 Season
A senior leader on the NU squad, Lindsay Poehling started all 20 matches during the 2008 season. An outside defender, she was part of Huskers backline that posted five shutouts during the season, including back-to-back shutouts twice.
She posted a career-high two points in 2008, notching assists in Nebraska wins over No. 25 Kansas and North Dakota State, including the game-winner against the Jayhawks. Poehling earned a season-high three shots against Saint Louis on Sept. 5 and finished the regular season with 20.
She also earned academic All-Big 12 first-team honors for a third time.
2007 Season
Poehling continued to be a top-notch defender for the Huskers in 2007, as she started every contest until a knee injury limited her time in the last two contests of the season. Poehling's work on the right side of the backline was once again second to none, as she gave the defense solid play for a second consecutive season.
Poehling and the Huskers got off to a hot start with two shutout efforts in the first four games. Nebraska started with a 2-0 shutout in the season opener against Northwestern on Sept. 2, while allowing just two goals in the next two games. The Huskers also blanked San Diego State on Sept. 9.
Poehling flashed her ability to create scoring opportunities in Nebraska's 5-1 victory over Saint Louis on Sept. 21. Poehling notched her second career assist against the Billikens.
Poehling and the Huskers continued their high-quality play two days later against No. 12 Florida. Nebraska held the Gators to just one goal in a 1-1 tie, before blanking Oklahoma on Sept. 28 in a 1-0 NU win. The win earned the Huskers a 12-0 all-time record in Big 12 openers. Poehling also aided Nebraska in a 4-0 shutout of Lamar on Oct. 12.
2006 Season
Poehling was back in a big way for the Huskers in 2006 after sitting out most of the 2005 season with an injury. Poehling used her aggression and great ball control to earn a starting defensive spot with NU's core defensive foursome of Poehling, Tanya Dennis, Carly Peetz and Anna Caniglia.
Although a defender, Poehling was still offensively active. She took more shots than any other Husker defender with four shots on goal among her 12 shots on the season. Poehling produced one shot on goal among her three shots in Nebraska's loss to Oklahoma State on Oct. 20, and put a shot on goal in NU's win over Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 25.
Poehling also set up many scoring opportunities for the Huskers by pushing into the midfield, where she gained possession of the ball and was able to cross it toward the net for far post runs. This style of play earned Poehling the first assist of her career with a game-winning set-up to Brittney Lanier against Drake on Sept. 10.
2005 Season
Poehling played in five games for Nebraska before an injury forced her to the sideline for the rest of the season. She applied for and was granted a medical hardship.
High School
Poehling was the 2003 and 2004 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year at Elkhorn High School. She also earned Omaha World-Herald first-team All-Nebraska honors. In 2004, Poehling led the state by scoring 24 goals. She also led Class B and was tied for the state lead with 58 total points. Poehling added 10 assists as a junior in 2004. In 2005, Poehling produced 17 goals and 12 assists.
She was a four-time all-state and all-conference selection, as well as a two-time All-Omaha and Super-State honoree. Poehling also earned an invitation to participate in the Nebraska Shrine Soccer Classic in 2005. In the classroom, she was a four-time member of the honor roll.
Other Information
Poehling played club soccer for the Omaha Gladiator United program. With her help, the team advanced to the semifinals of the regional tournament.
Personal Information
The daughter of Mike Tindall and Synda Tindall, Poehling has two stepsisters, Meghen and Madysen, and two brothers, Drew and Jordan. Poehling's father was a member of the Husker track and field teams. Lindsay was born on April 22, 1986. She is majoring in business administration at Nebraska.
