2008 Season
A preseason All-Big 12 pick, Aysha Jamani lived up to expectations, as she started all 20 NU contests in 2008 and was named to the All-Big 12 first-team on the field and in the classroom. Jamani was third on the squad with nine points on three assists and three goals. She tied a career-high with two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-0 NU win over North Dakota State on Sept. 19 and followed up with the game-winning score in Nebraska’s 2-1 upset of No. 8 Texas on Oct. 3.
Jamani also notched back-to-back assists against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, including the game-winner versus the Sooners. Her 49 shots and 22 shots on goals were second on the team.
2007 Season
Jamani started Nebraska's first 10 contests, but a ruptured Achilles tendon in practice brought an abrupt end to her junior campaign. Jamani was able to accumulate 24 shots, putting 11 on goal. She scored one goal against Saint Louis on Sept. 21, before suffering the injury.
2006 Season
Jamani was an offensive catalyst for Nebraska in 2006. On the season, Jamani had four goals and four assists for 12 points, which ranked second on the team behind only senior All-American Brittany Timko.
Jamani scored her first goal of the season in NU's 2-2 tie with Wisconsin, gathering her second goal in the same weekend to give Nebraska its first win of the year over Iowa, 1-0.
Jamani tallied the fourth game-winning goal of her career as she netted a ball in the 91st minute of the game to give Nebraska a 2-1 overtime win over Baylor. Jamani's goal just 51 seconds into overtime was the fastest overtime goal in school history. She is just two game-winning goals away from joining the Husker top 10 for career game-winners.
Her last goal best demonstrated her amazing speed and talent. Against Loyola-Chicago, Jamani took a ball from goalkeeper Jamie Klages near midfield and raced through the entire Rambler defensive unit before ripping an off-balance shot for Nebraska's second goal of the contest.
Jamani put a lot of work into her goals in her sophomore year, taking a team-best 64 shots, including the 100th shot of her career against Baylor. Although she proved her scoring ability with four goals in 19 games in 2006, she increased her creativity by notching four assists as well, including two that resulted in game-winning goals.
2005 Season
Jamani was anything but shy in her first year at Nebraska. She ranked second on the team with 58 shots and 35 shots on goal and tied for second with seven goals. Her 18 points also ranked second on the team and were the most by a freshman since Jessie Bruch totaled 19 points her freshman campaign in 2003.
Jamani was honored as a second-team All-Big 12 selection, as well as being named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.
In her first postseason action, Jamani scored a goal just 12 minutes into the Huskers' match with Kansas in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Nov. 2. The goal was her seventh of the season, a total that tied defender Sasha Andrews for second on the team.
Jamani scored two first-half goals in the Huskers' 3-0 rout of Missouri, marking her second multi-goal game of the year. Jamani's two goals tied a career high, while her first goal was her second game-winning goal of the season.
She provided a spark off the bench for the first three games of the season, bursting onto the scene with two goals against UAB, the first multi-goal game in the history of the Nebraska Soccer Field. That goal also proved to be the first game-winning goal of her career.
Her outstanding play earned her the first start of her career against San Diego State, and she started every game the rest of the season. She added her first career assist against Rice, and scored the Huskers' lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Purdue. At Oral Roberts on Oct. 14, Jamani notched her second career assist. She followed that with the first game-winning assist of her career against Oklahoma. She finished third on the team with four assists.
High School
Jamani played one year of soccer at Western Canada High School before attending the National Sport School, which did not offer athletic teams.
Other Information
Jamani was a member of the Canadian Under-20 and Senior National Teams. Jamani brings a wealth of international experience to Nebraska. She has appeared in 11 games with the Canadian Senior National Team, scoring seven goals.
Jamani had an especially busy 2006 with the U-19 squad, playing all 90 minutes against Australia and the United States at the FIFA U-19 World Championships in Russia. Jamani also played in all five matches at the U-20 CONCACAF Qualifiers in Mexico in January of 2006, scoring four goals in five games.
At the FIFA Under-19 Women’s World Championship in Thailand in 2004, Jamani joined Husker teammates Brittany Timko, Sari Raber and Tanya Dennis. She appeared in each of Canada’s four games and scored one goal. In the CONCACAF Under-19 qualifying tournament, Jamani played in all five games of the tournament, scoring five goals. She has scored a total of 23 goals (seven with the senior team, 16 with the Under-19 team) with the Canadian National Teams.
Personal Information
The daughter of Naushad and Yasmin Jamani, Aysha was born on June 28, 1987. She has one sister, Jenna. Aysha is majoring in business administration.
