2007 Season
A leader in the midfield for the Huskers throughout the season, Jessie Bruch ended her Nebraska career with three points in 2007. Bruch notched one assist and one goal while accumulating 37 shots in 17 starts for NU.
Bruch opened the season by pacing the Huskers with eight shots against Northwestern in a 2-0 Nebraska win on Sept. 2. She followed with a goal against Saint Louis to propel the Huskers to a 5-1 win over the Billikens on Sept 21. Bruch capped the season with an assist against Missouri on Oct. 28.
Bruch finished her career seventh on the all-time career shots chart with 191 total shots. She racked up 49 points in her time as a Husker, with 22 goals and five assists.
In the classroom, Bruch garnered second-team academic All-Big 12 honors and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.
2006 Season
After establishing serious offensive potential in 2005, Bruch came back to the pitch in 2006 as a major scoring threat. In 12 games, Bruch scored four goals while firing 12 shots on goal. The 5-11 midfielder also became a solid set-up player, earning three assists, including two in Nebraska's 2-1 league win over Texas Tech.
Bruch tied for second in goals on the season with Aysha Jamani, trailing only All-American Brittany Timko (11). Bruch also tied with Timko and Jamani in game-winning goals with two. She netted the winning ball against both Western Carolina and TCU. In all, three of Bruch's four goals were assisted by Timko, who often found the midfielder's imposing 5-11 target in the middle of the pack on set plays. During Big 12 play, Bruch repaid the favor, as both of Bruch's assists against Texas Tech resulted in Timko goals.
Despite a terrific start to the season, Bruch was forced to sit out in seven of Nebraska's 10 Big 12 matches with a knee injury. However, Bruch returned to the pitch in the Huskers' 3-2 win over Loyola-Chicago to end the regular season, taking two shots in her first-half appearance.
2005 Season
After missing the 2004 season recovering from off-season knee surgery, Bruch returned in 2005 to bolster a Husker midfield that lost two starters from the previous season. Bruch scored two goals at Colorado, marking her first goals of the season and the first multi-goal game of her career. Bruch's two goals led the Huskers to a 2-1 victory with her game-winning goal coming in the 82nd minute.
Bruch matched that effort with two goals in a loss to Texas A&M in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. She scored a goal in each half and her second-half goal marked her first of the season that was not scored on a set play. Bruch added the game-winning goal in the Huskers' 3-1 win over Kansas in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. She finished with three goals and six points at the tournament and was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team.
2004 Season
Bruch took a medical redshirt while recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
2003 Season
Bruch was sensational for the Huskers in 2003, leading NU with 19 points. She was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team for her outstanding play in her first season at Nebraska. The St. Louis, Mo., native produced 19 points on nine goals and one assist on the season. Bruch led the team with 73 shots and 28 shots on goal. She had a flare for the dramatic with five of her goals coming in the last 11 minutes of a contest, including five game winners. Bruch’s most dramatic goal of the season came against Oklahoma State, when she scored the game winner with just five seconds remaining in regulation, giving NU a 3-2 win.
Bruch posted her first game-winning goal in her first official game in a Husker uniform, when she scored an early goal at the 8:33 mark to defeat DePaul, 1-0. The freshman also put the ball in the net against Iowa, Murray State, Texas Tech, Texas and Washington. She was the only freshman to start all 22 games in 2003.
Bruch scored her first postseason goal to give the Huskers a 1-0 lead against Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She also scored with less than eight minutes remaining in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament against Missouri with a header off a corner kick from Jenna Cooper.
High School
Bruch was named an all-conference, all-metro and all-state player as a junior and senior at Nerinx Hall High School. Throughout her career, Bruch played all over the field and spent most of her senior season as a defender. She showed a knack for scoring by putting in the game-winning goal to win the Class 4A district championship, sending her team to the sectional finals in 2002.
She was the team captain as a junior and senior, as well as winning team most valuable player awards in consecutive years. Bruch earned four letters in soccer and was named to the second honor roll.
Other Information
Bruch spent time training with the U.S. Under-19 National Team in 2003. She won five state championships as a member of the Busch soccer club. Bruch served as the team captain for her club team throughout her career starting with her Under-12 season.
Personal Information
The daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Bruch, Jessica has one sister, Stephanie, and one brother, Kevin. Jessica was born on Sept. 25, 1984, in St. Louis, Mo. She graduated with a bachelor’s in animal science in December 2007.
