Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (Fall: 2006; Spring: 2005)
2005 Season
Aly Scace (pronounced SCASE) had her final Husker season cut short by a season-ending injury. She suffered a torn ACL in the second game of the season versus UAB.
2004 Season
Scace was one of the most vital parts of a stellar Nebraska defense. The Talala, Okla., native started every game for NU and logged the most minutes of any Husker field players.
After scoring one goal and adding three assists in her first two seasons, Scace stayed back on defense more in 2004. Her one-on-one defending ability helped Nebraska limit opponents to six shots on goal and 1.25 goals per game.
Along with Sasha Andrews, Scace was the Huskers' most consistent defender and played exceptional defense all season despite a limited number of substitutions at the defender position.
In the classroom, Scace earned a spot on the spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2003 Season
Scace made the move from the midfield to the backline and became a valuable member of the NU defense.
She helped Nebraska post four shutouts and a 1.60 goals-against average. Scace and the other NU defenders only allowed the goalkeepers to face 159 shots on goal all season.
Scace played all but 19 minutes as a sophomore, and the only game she did not complete was against Mississippi State.
She contributed an assist on a Nikki Baker goal in the second half against Texas Tech for her only point of the season.
Scace took seven shots in 2003, including three against Murray State. Three of her seven shots were on goal.
2002 Season
Scace saw plenty of action during her freshman season, starting eight games and playing in all 25 contests in 2002.
Scace scored her first collegiate goal against Belmont and contributed two assists on the season, against Kansas and Memphis, for a total of four points.
Scace and fellow Oklahoman Nikki Baker were the only Nebraska freshmen to start the first four games in 2002. Scace also started every game of the Big 12 Tournament against Kansas, Texas and Texas A&M, contributing signifcantly in Nebraska's run to the conference title.
She progressed considerably throughout the spring season, scoring the game-winning goal on a corner kick from Jenna Cooper against Arizona in the first contest of the spring.
Scace also had a great game against the WUSA’s Philadelphia Charge, scoring in the first five minutes of the game, when Cooper sent a corner kick that bounced around until Scace put the ball past the Charge’s goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
High School
Oologah-Talala High School’s all-time scoring leader with 210 points on 85 goals and 40 assists in four years, Scace was named to the all-district team four consecutive seasons and to the all-state team as a senior.
She was also a multi-sport athlete, lettering twice in basketball and once in track.
Scace was also involved in HOBY and earned Superintendent’s Honor Roll accolades.
Other Information
In addition to her high school soccer experience, Scace was the team captain for seven years for the TSC84 team that won seven consecutive state championships during her playing career. She was also named to the Olympic Development Program State Select team for four years with Baker.
Personal Information
The daughter of Sue Ann and John Scace, Aly has one sister, Ashley, 28, and one brother, Jonathon, 24. Aly was born on Dec. 6, 1983, in Tulsa, Okla. She is a family and consumer science major.
