2005 Season
For the 2005 season, Kari Hogan became a member of the Husker coaching staff after a three-year career with the NU soccer team. Hogan notched one assist in 2004 and finished her career with three goals, 13 assists and 19 points. She started six games in 2004 and 40 games in her career. She helped guide the Huskers to a mark of 14-8-1 and 6-3-1 in the Big 12 Conference in 2005.
2004 Season
Hogan contributed in all 23 games of the 2004 season. She recorded 11 shots, three of which were on goal. She also had one assist.
2003 Season
Hogan produced 13 points on two goals and nine assists in her sophomore campaign. She ended the season tied for second in the NCAA with four assists in a game against Iowa State.
The Lakewood, Colo., native started all 22 games last season, despite breaking her nose in an exhibition game against the Canadian U-17 National Team on the opening day of preseason.
Hogan notched the game-winning goal against Iowa on her only shot of the contest. Her second goal of the season came in the win over No. 9 Texas A&M on Oct. 24.
She ranked second on the team with nine assists on the season, trailing only Jenna Cooper's 14 assists. Hogan posted at least one assist in six games in 2003, including three game-winning assists (Mississippi State, Iowa State and Missouri).
She nearly tripled her shots from her freshman season, after the coaches asked her to be more goal-oriented in 2003. She launched 26 shots as a sophomore compared to just nine attempts during her freshman campaign.
2002 Season
Coming off an explosive prep career, Hogan saw immediate playing time in the Husker midfield. Hogan started the Huskers’ final 12 games of the 2002 season, and gave Nebraska a solid boost in the midfield late in the year.
She scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-0 win over Texas Tech, and accumulated five points during her freshman season. Her other three points came on assists against Indiana State, Colorado and Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament. She took nine shots on the season, including six shots on goal.
Hogan joined fellow Coloradoan Pam Karakusis in the 2002 Husker freshman class. Hogan is the third Husker in history from Lakewood, Colo., joining former All-Americans Kari Uppinghouse and Lindsay Eddleman.
High School
As a dynamic scorer, Hogan accumulated 34 points on 12 goals and 10 assists in her senior season at Wheat Ridge High School. In her junior campaign, Hogan put together eight goals and 15 assists for 31 points. She was named honorable-mention all-state and was a unanimous first-team all-conference pick in her final two prep seasons. She was also named to the academic all-state team for her achievements in the classroom as well as on the field. As the team's most valuable player, Hogan led Wheat Ridge to a third-place Jeffco 5A Conference finish.
Other Information
Playing for the Colorado Girls Soccer Academy, Hogan was a starter on the seven-time Colorado State Cup Championship team. Hogan and the Colorado Girls Soccer Academy won the Under-18 National Championship in 2002. She scored the game-winning goal in the Under-18 Region IV Championship game against Cal South, as well as game-winning goals in state championship games at the under-12 and under-16 levels. Hogan was an Olympic Development Program Regional selection for the under-17 team and a six-time Olympic Development Program state team selection.
Personal Information
The daughter of Candace and Frank Hogan, Kari has two sisters, Erin, 25, and Keely, 15. Kari was born on Jan. 28, 1984, in Denver, Colo. She is undecided on a major.
