2003 Season

Pam Karakusis (pronounced Care-uh-KOO-sis) was a solid contributor for the Huskers' midfield in 2003. She played in 16 games and started 12. She scored a goal in the Huskers' 3-2 win over Oklahoma State on Oct. 17, while adding an assist in a 5-1 Husker win over Iowa State on Sept. 26.

 

2002 Season

Karakusis was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer team for outstanding play in the Husker midfield.  The <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Littleton, Colo., native started 17 games for NU and saw action in all 25 contests in 2002.

 

Karakusis posted one assist on the season against Belmont on a pass to Breanna Boyd for the third goal of the contest. Karakusis took 20 shots in 2002, and continually progressed throughout her first collegiate season.  She recorded her first start of her collegiate career against Portland and became a regular starter for the Huskers on Oct. 6 against Texas A&M.

 

Karakusis demonstrated a strong physical presence and a great ball-winning ability in the midfield that helped her become an important element in the Nebraska lineup throughout the latter half of the season.

 

High School

Karakusis played two years of high school soccer at Columbine High School.  She received the academic and athletic achievement award.  Karakusis was also named to the honor roll for her accomplishments in the classroom. 

 

Other Information

As the captain of the Colorado Girls Soccer Academy and a teammate of Kari Hogan, Karakusis helped lead the team to Colorado State Cup Championships in her under-13 through her under-18 seasons and an Under-18 National Championship in 2002.  She was an Olympic Development Program Regional team member from  1997 to 2001, and a member of the ODP State team from 1996 through 2001. 

 

Karakusis played with the U.S. Under-16 National Team in the fall of 2000 and competed in the adidas Cup the following summer.  Expanding her international experience, Karakusis toured with her ODP team in England in 2000 and Italy in 2001.

 

Personal Information

The daughter of Barbara and Peter Karakusis, Pam has one brother, Timothy, 17.  Pam was born on April 2, 1984, in Park Ridge, Ill.  She owns a 3.869 grade-point average in veterinary science.
